  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Gift from Hyundai

As per my gift in the mail, it is just a Pen to write with. No big deal. Why didnt somebody inform the others who questioned what the present was, that it was a writing pen, period. Regards.

Because many of the members were trying to be POLITE and respectful and NOT spoil the surprise. Kudos to THEM and sucks boo to YOU sir or madam!

And a question: was this only sent to those who BOUGHT or did anyone who LEASED receive the gift? No biggie but curious.

I think you are totally out of line and should apologize to drpearso. The members of this forum are not 10 year-olds.

Well... No, I don't want to spoil the surprise.

I believe that in previous years they sent the gifts to people who leased or purchased. But I purchased, so don't know for 100% sure.

The simple answer is no one asked. The first several requests were for PM's so as to not ruin the surprise for others. The first person who asked for a public response got one within an hour.

The booing was a bit far, but the factual part was right on. People were answering via PM in order to be considerate and PMs are what people were asking for. The age of forum members has nothing to do with anything except you making a comment just as derogatory as the one you're responding to by implying anyone who enjoys a surprise or keeps a secret must be 10. My 79 year old grandmother still enjoys simple surprises...

The part about being 10 years old was because it seems to me that there is a distinct "I got a gift and you didn't" attitude here (especially toward people have not purchased a 2015 Genesis). Revealing the gift would make that very silly of course, since the gift is trivial, and that is why I suspect that the gift was not revealed. Yes, people like to be surprised, but probably most will be disappointed when they get their gift due to the expectations raised here. There wasn't any kind of hoopla like this in 2009 when we got gifts from HMA back then.

So you think people PMing responses to people who specifically asked for PMs was to persecute you for not buying a 2015, not to prevent ruining the simple surprise for others? This isn't the first thread where you've read personal insult to not owning a '15 out of nothing.

This entire thread should be deleted, makes this site look like reality TV in a day care center. :o:o

  • I don't feel persecuted by anything in this thread.
  • There was one person who chided me for posting something in another thread in the "General 2015 Hyundai Genesis Sedan Discussion" area, since I did not own a 2015.
  • There does seem to be some anxiety from 2015 owners who have not received the gift.
  • People who find out later what the gift actually is are not going to be surprised, they are going to be disappointed after so much hoopla has been raised about it.
  • Even if you think everything I said above is ridiculous, attacking drpearso for disclosing the nature of the gift is really childish. We all talked about gifts sent out in previous years and no one was treated that way.

My damn satellite TV bill is now over $100 per month with no premium channels (HBO, etc). Maybe this is forum is a cheaper alternative?

In order:
-Then stop acting like it with your totally invented "I got a gift and you didn't"
-You weren't chided, someone thought you owned a 2015 and asked you a question. They made this very explicit when you freaked out. That was one of at least 3 examples
-Completely irrelevant to anything I've said
-Completely irrelevant to anything I've said
-I never attacked drpearso, what's childish is making things up constantly

Not invented IMO.

The person knew I did not own a 2015 Genesis, and they raised the issue when they didn't like what I said and didn't think I should be posting in the thread. I don't care what they claimed after the fact (and only after I pointed out that the thread had nothing to do with 2015's even though it was in the 2015 section, and that others who have never owned any model year Genesis have been posting on this forum for more than 5 years). I completely stand by my claim that he didn't want me posting in the thread, and the he knew I did not own a 2015 up front. His "question" was 100% rhetorical.

Why do you think that everything I post is in direct response to what you said?

I didn't say you did, but clearly someone else did.

Lastly (and not aimed at you), if people really want to preserve the surprise, they shouldn't have posted anything about the "gift" at all.

So asking someone who you assumed must own a 2015 (because they frequent the 2015 board and answer questions about the 2015 model) where they bought their 2015 after that person poked fun at a dealer's very nice Genesis "Lounge" feature is considered chiding? Lol

Not invented IMO.

The person (me) did not know you owned a 2015 - how would they? Can you show me where you told them that before they asked you? Based on your participation in the 2015 board and frequent responses to 2015 specific questions, they naturally assumed you did. You need to stop with the persecution complex? Geez - I never cease to be amazed at how people can get their feathers so ruffled and actually be offended by words from a complete stranger on a public internet forum?

Why do you think that everything I post is in direct response to what you said?

Is this a serious question? I don't think everything you post is in direct response to what I said. I think that when you reply to me you're replying to me. If you're not talking to me in the middle of a post directed at me maybe you should make that clear.

I didn't say you did, but clearly someone else did.

Then don't say it in reply to me while quoting me as if I was the one who did it.

  1. I don't own a 2015 Genesis.
  2. You were obviously not liking that I posted a response in 2015 Genesis section of the forum for the sole reason that you didn't like what I posted in that particular thread (or didn't think I was qualified to comment, etc, unless I owned a 2015). Amazingly, the original post in the thread in question had nothing to do at all with the 2015, even though the person who started the thread created it in the 2015 Genesis section.
  3. Later, when I pointed out the above facts to you, and I also mentioned that other people who have never owned any model year Genesis have also posted in the 2015 Genesis section (and other Genesis threads), you tried to claim that you question about when I purchased a 2015 was purely innocent, and not the cheap shot that it really was. Sorry, I don't buy it.

My sincere apology, but I don't really think anyone thought you were the one who did it. Since I quoted you exactly, it is obvious that you did not do it. But you did comment on it, saying:
"The booing was a bit far, but the factual part was right on."
So that fact that you commented on it, saying it was "right on," makes it fair game for discussion IMO.

Great - so now you've established that the "Drives a Hyundai 3.8 V6 Sedan" is not referring to a 2015. But, was it so impossible for you to believe that could have been interpreted as been referring to a 2015 given your frequent posts in the 2015 forum and your answering questions and providing opinions about the 2015 model?

The original post in the thread was about the Genesis Lounge at Burns Hyundai where I purchased my 2015 from and the Lounge is brand new for the 2015 model year. You were taking a shot at minimizing the meaningful customer value of Burns creating this nice amenity for their Genesis customers by focusing only on the mention of the HD television in the article and ignoring the rest. So I was simply asking where you bought yours since you appeared to think Burn's efforts at customer satisfaction were a joke? If you want to read more into it than that, so be it - but please don't try to tell me what I was thinking or meaning as you really have no clue.
