  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello, folks - I have a 2011 4.6 that we love with 16K miles on it. Since I got it at 4700 miles, I've had to moderately rap forward on the glove box door to enable it to be opened. Once I rap on it one time, then it opens as it should. It will then re-open fine for a short period of time, but once driving around for several miles it settles into its "sweet spot" and get's stuck again. If you push the button, nothing happens.
The local dealer tried to tell me I had too much stuff in. After I asked if he tried to prove his theory, he said no. I then emptied it out completely, drove around for a while then brought it back with the door stuck as always (I hate doing their job!). He was then suggesting jury-rigging the rubber stops to put more pressure on the closure, I instead suggested him trying to contact Hyundai. I've not heard back and have a call-in to him - he acted like there's nothing more he can do. I don't think he knows me yet but he will learn real soon to fix my car and follow-through or his ratings go in the toilet.
Has anyone experienced this, if so - what was the solution?

Mine does the same thing. So far I just live with it but it is annoying as hell. Please keep us informed of your progress to get it fix.

ive got a 2009 v8 tek i get the same thing with the glove box. Since the car has been great with pretty much everything else i dont think much about it. However it is a pain when trying to enter the glove box; which has been a total of probably 4-5 times since ive owned her.

we have that problem also
my wife cannot ever open the glove box
i have to hit the button sever times
the solution is to tell everyone not to buy this car
it is a great car except for a few issues that cannot get fixed
did i mention that some issues cannot get fixed

spray some silcone on the plastic pins on either side of the door and some in the small holes that the pins latch into. silicone or tire shine will work. Only have had to put it on mine once in 15 months. I posted this fix in another thread about a year ago.

I had the same problem. Service rep tried using silicone spray and inserting rubber pieces but neither worked.

Service rep called Hyundai Corporate and was told to replace the lock to the glove box.

Worked perfectly once the lock was replaced. It has been about seven months and no problems.

thanks for the responses, gents. After I complained about "jury-rigging" with bigger rubber, etc - they got the message and swapped it out. I got it last Thursday and now it works like it should. No problems so far.

I've never had to lubricate a glove box in my life. That shouldn't be. Sounds like you gents need to schedule a replacement. Take a printout from this forum thread with you if you need.
