  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

This question occurred to me, on another thread where I discovered that the G70 does not have any internal storage (aka Jukebox) for Music. So it got me wondering about other tech and luxury items that are missing on the G70?

For those that now have the G70 and used to have a G80, what luxury or Tech features are not on the G70 that were present on the G80?

Also, does the G70 have any features that the G80 did not have?

The G70 doesn't have a compass on the rearview mirror.

No rear window shade via button (I liked that) or rear left and right pull shades and of course the close trunk by button on the 2019 model.

power trunk lid, but fixed on the 2020's.

The G70 is missing the grandpa car feature found on the G80.

They left me a G80 V8 Ultimate as a loaner and it felt so outdated on the inside compared to my Prestige!

Joking aside, I actually really do like the G80 Sport. I think it looks really good.

I had the non-sport genesis and my wife called it my grandpa car. Agree the sports look much better.

Y'all also forgot that it came with... a CD player. Perfect for all granddads with their classic rock music CD library :D

Hate to say it but I remember cars with record players (what's that you say) and a collection of 45s to go with it.

I like the looks and features of the G80 as well, although this Grandpa opted for the G70.

But I got to take a ride in a friend's 2017 G80 with the 5.0 V8 and was really impressed. Very comfortable and a great ride on our crappy New England roads.

New G80 will be out soon...and I bet everyone will be blown away. I think they will hold a high standard like they did with the G70. Mind you...in this larger segment...tech is always off the charts. They will have to do a f$%k-ton to keep up (or out do) the new A6.

You don't get carbon fiber trim in the G70, but the G80 3.3t sport I test drove had it.

Recently found out that you can get the 3.8 with a sport appearance package if you want, but the interior isn't the same

My ‘17 G80 front sensors were way more sensitive to possible forward collisions and warned me every so often, whereas so far my ‘19 G70 (granted I’ve only owned 6 days) hasn’t warned me once in similar situations and I even have on “early” warning setting! My guess it’s a smaller car with narrower parameters and possibly Genesis tuned down the sensitivity in the last 2 years due to overkill with those warnings which was a common complaint. Anyway I should probably be happy about this.

I'm happy that the collision sensor in my G70 hasn't ever gone off too early, so as to be a nuisance. Mine is also set on the "early" setting. After eight months I was beginning to wonder if it worked, but it saved my bacon the other day, so now I know it works. 😁
