  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Since I started driving 30 years ago I've tried to be the best one out there. No tickets or wrecks on my record, not any close calls that were my fault. Until today.

We had a bad storm hit. Super high wind. Knocked down trees in a lot of places. I'm heading back home and my eyes are darting around, checking out all the damage around me and not paying attention to the road. In front of me, the car that was just a second ago plenty far enough away has hit its brakes. My car starts beeping loudly and forces me to turn my head around to see that shit is about to go south quickly. I hit the brakes and was able to turn and go around the car to avoid a collision (probably could have slammed the brakes and avoided hitting them but not sure).

So, the warning works just fine and I'm forevermore grateful that it does. I don't know what would have happened as far as the auto braking goes had I not caught it in time. I'm also not sure how it calculates the distance from the vehicle in front of you and the speed you're traveling but apparently it does it accurately.

Either way...pay attention to the road.

Glad your shit stayed north!

The only accidents I've ever had were through the fault of someone else's egregious lapse of judgement...

what about a lapse of judgement by a falling tree? no one’s fault but an accident nonetheless. A cautionary tale for those who want to disable AEB because it’s too bothersome.

I am very glad to have AEB and I respect Hyundai essentially making it standard. I have had the braking kick in just once, when it decided I was going to close to a turning car. Love the safety systems on my Gennie.

I haven't had one of those - Houston Drivers are bad enough, without taking into account "Acts of God"....! I personally leave it on, as it seems to do a good job of not "crying wolf". I do find the blind spot monitoring a bit paranoid, but I leave it on too as I've found that the Genny's side mirrors to be almost comically small for the size of car it is...
