  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Just completed a two week 4500mi trip. Miami - Blue Ridge Parkway - Western Pa/Ohio - Lakes Region NH - about 600 miles of side trips - back to Miami. Not one single issue. Averaged about 31mpg on the highway @70+ and 25 in all the little towns. In the little towns got one "is that a Bentley" to many "what is that" , lots of compliments wherever I stopped. Apparently the Genesis is a rare breed in the parts of the country I was in. Even the not updated nav maps were excellent, the directions were pretty close to what Waze was saying. Forgot one issue, tore about a 4" piece of rubber out of the front left tire. Hit a high curb on one of the BRP overlooks, tire had less then 1500 miles on it -ouch!! All in all I would say the old Genesis is what it is suppose to be, a pretty impressive, easy driving, mechanically sound 4 wheeler. (done most of the route on two wheels in years past, it's like comparing a covered wagon to, I guess, a Genesis. (rear wheel drive 3.8)

How the heck are you seeing 31 mpg, I'm getting 26.x max on the highway.

east coast gas vs. west coast gas. plus his long drives without stopping, the longer you drive the better the MPG..

my last car was a Lexus RCF, my average MPG for my commute was 19mpg. I drove it from CA to CO to TN to GA and back in 2016 and averaged 29 mpg on the long 10 plus hour drives after getting out of CO, better fuel, more flat open roads.

Hmm, is the OP's car rwd or awd?

I've driven much of that route and at different times of the year and never got better than 27 with AWD. Maybe he went down hill both ways and I got all the uphill left over.

are you both driving the same vehicle?

I drive the RWD model and can get 31 on the Texas highway which are 70 mph for the most part. I have gotten up to 34 miles a gallon going down hill with the wind at my back, I guess I should not calculate that but it makes me feel good.

Been on 3 2000 mile road trips in my 15 RWD. Never got more than 27mpg.
I do drive 75 plus if I can.
What's on the sticker for hwy mpg? Bought mine used, no sticker.

I don't feel so bad, half the time I get 25.5 to 26.2 and its anywhere form 72 to 90mph on the cruise control.

I clear about 28mpg on my 2015 V8 RWD when cruising at 70.

I’ve had my v8 for about six weeks and I’m getting about 21mpg overall. I might drive down to Miami over Labor Day. We’ll see how that goes...

I've been impressed with the economy of the 5.0 V8. I've only owned mine for almost 2 months but on a couple of 2-3 hour mostly highway drives I've averaged 26 and then 29.6mpg this past weekend. I'm averaging 23mpg overall over the past 2 months. It might even be better if I always remembered to put it in ECO mode. This is better than my previous car, an '09 Pontiac G8 GT, 6.0 liter V8 with cylinder deactivation. The G8 was good for maybe 24-25 highway if I was lucky but I only averaged about 17-18mpg overall

You know...I've been running in Eco mode until this last tank of gas, and I think I'm actually getting better gas mileage in "standard" mode.

I got 27mpg going from Vancouver to Portland. That was my best... but don't pay attention to the MPG on the window sticker, those tests are done at 55mph. Doesn't really reflect real world conditions where people typically drive 70-80mph.
