  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I've read that you setup Google home to work with your genesis. I haven't seen instructions anywhere but is this something I can do with the Canadian app?

I have tried as well , must be just the US

That would actually be kind of nice. I use Google Home. Could I, for example, have Google turn on some lights for me as I pull up the driveway? Guess no one knows yet.

Automatically? No. I think you can from the app on your phone though. Should be able to dedicate a button on the Homelink Mirror if you use that system. You need a transeiver module and a matching control.

Can’t speak for Google home but Alexa does it all - start, lock, etc

Actually, I have Alexa, too.

I wasn't thinking of having it happening automatically, although I think I could employ geofencing to have that happen with my phone and the stuff I already have. I meant using a voice command from the car via Alexa of Google to activate in-home devices, like lights. Not sure I'd actually do it that often, or ever, but it would be cool to be able to do that if coming home at night to a dark house.

My outside light are on with timers and motion detectors. Couple of indoor with timers too. With a button on the mirror, X10 compatable receivers and modules are about $20 each.

I need to test my Google Home/mini with Bluelink. Looks like it's set up to interact fine, as in start, unlock etc.

EdP, a little off topic but I used to use X10 but I found them so unreliable and frustrating I gave up on the. Zwave has been great and much more versatile although a little more expensive.

Yeah, depends on the setup. I had problems with a couple of modules on the other leg but the ones on the same leg have been reliable for about 30 years now.

I'm moving to a new house around October so will investigate what is the latest and look at Zwave.

As long as they support google assistant, you should be fine. Google home is simply a device for the Google assistant - the same assistant that you can get on any Android / iPhone and the same assistant that works with Android Auto.
