Got Busted for Tint in Middle of Pennsylvania

scott, every window film I've removed took no more than some soapy water to dissolve the adhesive. as your pulling the film, you spray the glass behind it, let it sit a little, then continue to pull. the adhesive is water based. Once the film is off, a little more water and a razor blade to remove the rest. I've never had much trouble removing the film.

Same with putting it on, a little soapy water on the window, place the film and position it, then slowly squeegee out the water and bubbles starting in the middle. It's not that hard of a process.

It's not the hardest process to remove, just time consuming and makes a mess if not done properly. Soapy water can be used to loosen the adhesive for removal. Baby shampoo is used for application - soap is avoided due to the impurities in the formula, which sometimes can be seen trapped in between the film and glass after installation.

I got busted in my BMW a few years back for Tint, and had to remove from both fronts. I did it myself. It was the worst experience of my life, and I will never try to do it again. Anybody who says it's so "easy" has maybe either not done it, or got miracle tint - but the tint on my car WOULD NOT COME OFF.

Don't believe the hype and out how simple it is. it's not. Or I'd have done it this time.

A police officer in most of CA typically has a lot more serious crimes to worry about than a tint violation, compared to a police officer in a small PA town who is trying to balance the city budget. So the difference in enforcement is understandable.

So true. Plus here in California I think we can just pay a fine of a couple hundred bucks if we don't want to remove the tint. This is the option I would choose as I love the tint job on my car and I had them use a high quality film. Of course there's no guarantee you wont be stopped for the same violation a week later and have to pay again, and again, and again....

Since you've already removed your tint, it is too late to fight, but I have several acquaintances that have beat the tint laws with prescriptions from optometrists. Its difficult to find a doctor willing to support your cause though

best way to remove tint is with steam, i've done this on my other car, a cheap 10 dollar clothes steaming and a 6 pack of beer, no razors..have a rag handy to get any left over glue


as for the tint.. here in Va our tint laws are about the same BUT if we can get a waiver to have 35%, which is what I have

I've never heard of a tint ticket being a fix it ticket, would have used that 120 to donate to that town(pay the ticket) and kept on trucking
