  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Got it! The search is over.

After a long drawn out search and literally dozens of brands/models/test drives my wife brought home her brand new second generation 2015 Genesis 3.8 Tech today. After a statewide online search managed to track down a 3.8 Tech in a color that she liked and traded in her tired old workhorse Infiniti G35x AWD sedan.

So long Infiniti. We shall NEVER darken your doorstep again...

Here's a photo of her old (left) with the new (right):

Fitzgerald Auto of Clearwater was amazing to work with. Zero pressure. They gave us a decent discount off MSRP and a good offer on the trade. They even threw in $300 of dealer installed accessories for free without us even asking!

Anyway my wife is ecstatic and has already figured out all of the vehicle active safety and telematics systems.

The plates are transferred and my wife is ready to hit the road:

Looking for a challenge at the stoplight:

But the search continues... my wife had a bit of an off-road misadventure in my daily driver last week. Even after sinking a few grand to get the suspension back in order, it sadly appears that this event may have been the straw that broke my poor cars back. So as her quest has ended mine begins!

Congrats to your wife on the new Gen... Can't wait to get mine.... Are you picking one up too?

Congrats, nice upgrade for sure.

Clearwater Fitz is where my friend got his 2012 4.6, and likewise got a great deal (<$39k OTD all in, brand new in October 2012). Was treated very professionally by their internet sales group, and got a free rear wing-rebadging prior to delivery.

Gettel in Sarasota is also a very Pro outfit for those south of the bay. Their service group is dynamite.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Wow Motegi is that an Empire Gray with Black interior? That’s the combo I’m waiting for. Looks beautiful. Happy motoring.

We were looking for Empire grey but couldn't find one. Fitzgerald found us a Parisian grey/black interior a few hours away and gave us a good discount so we went with it. NO dealer added pin striping, VIN etching, paint protector, or nitrogen either!!!

Motegi: I'm curious about why you said you will never darken Infiniti's doorway again. Did you have a lot of problems with the Infiniti even though you referrred to it as a workhorse? Can you please let us know how the voice NAV is working? Some are having problems with it.

Best of luck with the new car. It really is a beautiful automobile.

2nd generation 2015?

Is it not?

I thought the first generation (BH platform) was between years 2008-2014.

Then the second generation (DH platform) is the 2015.

Is this incorrect? Was there a Genesis before the BH platform? I don't consider mid-cycle face lifts to be a generation change.

BTW, neither does Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyundai_Genesis

I previously owned a G35 coupe... And as I posted above my wife had the G35x sedan. Both were beautifully designed, with great engines, amazing stock exhaust note on the coupe, and great handling... and all this was ruined by HORRIBLE dealer service (not one but MULTIPLE), lies/deception right from the day of purchase, and some of the worst long term reliability of any cars that my wife and I have ever owned. It's a shame because my wife REALLY liked the steering feel of the G35 but we both have vowed to NEVER set in foot of another Infinti dealer again. Oh and the Navi systems were pretty bad too...

As far as the Genesis NAV is concerned we have noticed that you really need to wait until the NAV voice prompt is completed and the microphone "listening bar" is displayed on screen. If you speak even a fraction of a second early it won't work. As long as you enunciate clearly and separate your words it seems to work OK. We only tested it a few times yesterday so after my wife uses it for a few days I'll let you know.

Like the Parisian Grey, not too dark and shows the body lines nicely.

My experience with Infiniti was the opposite - my dealer provided the best dealership experience I ever had with our '08 G35Xs and the reliability was first rate. It was better than the BMW dealership experience I had at the same time.

I second that my 07 35X has been an absolute joy to own and the Infiniti service the best I’ve experienced. I still get great enjoyment out of driving my G it’s a real driver’s car. Alas it is a hard edge sport sedan and my wife likes cars that are more luxury so the Genesis is hers and the G is mine. We are waiting on a new Genesis eagerly. Unlikely it will handle as well as my G but we’ll see.

Took home a 2015 Genesis, tech, with four wheel drive. My wife drives a 2012 4.6. I thought that she would take this car in Sept. when her lease is up and I would get an R-spec. That plan is over. This car drives great with the 6 cal so I decided I don't need an 8.
This 2015 is terrific and much improved in every way.

This is encouraging. Thanks for the heads up and looking forward to your follow-up.

Well I'm glad to hear you guys are getting better service and reliability than we did.

Starting at the beginning, we ordered a G35 coupe new from a dealer when they were still a "hot item". We put down a deposit and agreed to FULL MSRP. They gave us a VIN and told us the car was on the boat from Japan. We were assured that we would have it in just a few weeks...

Fast forward to the delivery day, they call us in the morning and tell us that they have "some bad news". The car was damaged and that they will need to place an order for another. But the story changed slightly between the salesperson and the manager. The sales guy said the car was slightly damaged in port and couldn't be sold as new and would be donated to a community college shop. Then the Manager came on and said it fell off the top of the transporter onto its roof and was sent to be scrapped. You would think that at the very least they could have gotten their story straight. Fishy.

A quick call to Infiniti Corporate with the VIN confirmed my suspicions. Infiniti Corporate had no record of any car being damaged or destroyed at port and their records showed that this car was delivered SAFELY to the dealer. Basically the dealer had sold OUR car to someone who was willing to pay OVER MSRP. When I confronted the dealer with this info they immediately called Infiniti corporate and chewed out the CS Rep for "not being a team player". I know this because the Rep called me immediately afterward and told this to me, the Rep apologized profusely on behalf of Infiniti Corp about the way I was being treated by this dealer, and located an identical car for sale 7 hours away. Infiniti Corporate arranged to have our initial deposit refunded and WE made the 14 hour round trip to get the new car.

Here is a photo I took of it during its happier days:

Luckily we had a different dealer in town at the time to go to for service. My wife a short while later purchased her G35x sedan.

After we moved to Michigan we found the local dealer's service dept to be dishonest and pushy. They once told my wife that her brake rotors were dirty and needed to be cleaned at a considerable expense. Seriously. Dirty... Brake... Rotors... Thereafter we chose to take our cars to an Infiniti dealer in the next city 1 hour away just to avoid the local one.

Progressively the cars began to fall apart. From stuck throttle bodies, faulty A/C compressors, seized calipers, failed wheel bearings, exhaust leaks, rattling heat shields, leaking sunroof, intermittently working CD player, HID headlamps that burnt out constantly, torn compression rod bushings, faulty TP sensor, intermittent trunk light, non-functioning third brake light, faulty cam sensor, recurrent TPMS issues, and so on. I ditched my G35 coupe as soon as the bills began stacking up and moved into an Acura. My wife loved her G35x's handling and chose to keep it despite the rising issues.

Now after we moved back to Florida we found the local dealer to again be incompetent with some issues requiring multiple trips to resolve. Recently, the wife's G35x was costing us $1000 per month in service alone. So we parked it since January and she drove my Acura while she looked for a new car.

So this is why we will NEVER buy another Infiniti product.

Oh, and don't get me started with the issues that my wife had with her old Nissan... Could you imagine having a small waterfall from under the dash and having so much water you could keep goldfish in the passenger footwell every time it rained? My wife didn't ask for the "Interior Water Feature and Koi Pond" option package! I guess the issues run in the Nissan/Infiniti family!

I wish I could say I had the same experience...didn't matter how long I waited. It's been really poor in my experience...and very inconsistent.

My 06 FX35 was the best car I ever owned. Infiniti service was stellar.

Now I understand your position with Infiniti and agree that would also deter me from the brand. Funny how life shuffles the deck.

OP-So horrible stories about your ex-car.
Early 2013, I had a chance to rent a 2013 G37 sedan for a week while I was on a business trip.
Then couple of weeks later I decided to rent the Genesis for the same amount of time only at a different location.
Needless to say I bought the Genesis.
The Infiniti just felt old, dated, small and slow.
BTW I'm an ex-Lexus owner.

FYI...In case you've not heard. Infiniti has either moved their corporate office from Japan to Hong Kong.
Why? It's trying to change its image and others from what I've heard and because, the Germans are slaughtering both the Infiniti and the Lexus (certain lines). Acura is very much on its last leg as well, not much of a competition.
