Guess It's My Turn - Radio Quit

I've had the '12 R-spec almost one year and not one issue (save for an outdated nav map which was updated) but today, after making two stops, I got in the car and started it as usual and.....no radio. The display is working and the mode and volume controls still operate as normal but no sound. Quiet as a mouse.

There was no indication of any issue when I started the car. No pops or unusual noises and I've yet to check the fuses.

Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else.

Just went back out to the Genny to eyeball the fuses and.....everything working normally. WTF????? When I got home (and the radio had no sound) I tried the ACC mode (engine not running but ignition on) and still no sound. In the time it took me to type this original post I went back out, did the same thing and viola! It works! This is scary. I would blame it on the wifey but she hasn't been home all day.

Welcome to the club. Hyundai has not worked a solution. Well I guess they haven't. I think you have to recognize and admit there's a problem first. As yet only silence from Hyundai. There is a temporary users fix...search for the fuse pull correction.

I think a hard reboot of your system may help. Pull the main fuse or disconnect neg battery terminal for about 3 minutes.

Think positively. If it happens again, video the whole thing, or drive directly to the dealer. I had the blue screen of death several times. The final time I drove right to the dealer, they witnessed it, and then replaced the head unit. Took a week to get the part. No problems since.

Yes sir-same thing happened to me. Called Service and made an appointment.Went to take the car in and when I started the vehicle the unit started working again. Could not duplicate so I cancelled the appt.

The same thing has happened to me four times since I purchased my 3.8 in April of 2012 and I also called and then cancelled an appointment when the car started working again.

The last time it happened I figured out the following "work around". I shut off the car, got out and got far enough away from the car that the remote was out of range. When I returned to the car the audio worked properly. And it hasn't happened for the last 4 months now.

I think that the audio head computer gets confused and "locks-up". By turning off the car and removing the remote to outside its transmission range the audio computer is re-booted and starts working again. Much easier than removing a fuse.

Ha dit happen to me a few times. Since I've hd the Sw updated per teh TSB, I haven't had any issues.

Have any of you had your SW updated per the TSB?

May want to check into it if you haven't. There are a few threads running around with the new TSB and SW numbers. The new one works on the '12, the old one dosent. So make sure you get the right TSB.

Do you know what the TSB# is for this? I have mine at the dealer today for this issue. And, if they resist in any way, I would like to reference the specific TSB #.

(Unfortunately, I could not think of any specific enough keywords to search for this. I got hundreds of hits and none of them were close.)

Well I've had my Nav updated and I think the changes from the TSB were included. The surround issue has been fixed...but the "occasional no audio" did occur again.

I'm wondering if the nav update affected the radio because that is the first time in almost a year anything has gone wrong.

Anyway, thanks for all the replies guys. I will monitor and give the dealer a call should it happen again.

Yup, happened again once the next day. In addition, wifey took the car to work (normally I drive it) and suddenly the mirrors began folding back when ignition was turned off. Just that one time. We got back in the car (although wifey by now was spooky and wanted a Catholic priest to come by and extort whatever was causing this) and it drove normally to the next stop.....and this time no mirror folding.
