Today I both went in to my local dealer and put my deposit down for a GV60. Ended up settling on a GV60 Performance in Mauna Red with the Ash Grey/Glacier White interior. On the upside in person they were a lot more willing to provide some information than over email before.

To echo what others have speculated/suggested on price - the dealer wouldn't give me/didn't have any hard numbers but suggested a loaded GV60 Performance shouldn't go much past 70k CAD if at all, but it might start at more like 67/68. Likewise the GV60 Advanced AWD Likely around 60k or maybe 62. They didn't "confirm" but hinted at down the line or after it goes on regular sale a cheaper third trim option becoming available "in the low 50's" but unlikely to ever reach the 45k that would be required to qualify for the iZEV incentives from the Federal Government.

Apparently there is an initial allocation of roughly 500 cars in production soon that will be arriving late March or early April to dealers. Genesis seems to "match" customers who place a deposit down with one of these cars if available, otherwise they enter the build queue which has a 4-5 month lead time right now and estimated delivery for those is around June/July.

I was told about 230 of the initial 500 have been allocated to people who put down a deposit already since yesterday. They couldn't (or didn't have that information) on what cars/trims/colours are part of that 500 nor guarantee whether the model I chose would be on there. There does however appear to be some flexibility to change trim/colour down the line and be matched with a different car that is part of the 500 if you would have had to wait otherwise.

Additionally I was told that all the GV60's coming into Canada will have the V2L connector included by default, and there was also a chance of the level 2 Genesis 240v home charger being included with the vehicle as well. I'd be inclined to take that with a grain of salt, but sounds promising nonetheless.

I was hinted to that the Atacama Copper cars (which I quite like) will be hard to come by and there isn't many yet- ordering a more standard colour has higher odds of getting one of the early cars. It was also suggested that additional interior/exterior colour options might become available down the line too since many of the colours can't be configured with the Glacier interior right now. Lastly, I got told that initial "hand raisers" who were on the email/stay connected list from earlier in 2021 have first picks on deposit cancellations or switching colours for the early cars. I don't know if that is regional to my dealer alone though or part of Genesis Canada handling the lists for these cars.

An additional note - My friend ordered an Atacama Copper GV60 Advanced with the Black interior and ended up in 107th in the build queue for that exact trim, and expected to be an early April build date and a later in May delivery date. I am yet to hear my position in the build order for my vehicle specifically.

Hi Minbari. Thanks for your informative postings. Question: Do you know how your friend knew that he "ended up in 107th in the build queue..."? I deposited when the order site first went live in Canada and got a confirmation email from my local dealer (Waterloo) and a copy of the deposit receipt. But I have no idea where I am in the build queue nor know how to find out.

I do- the information is only accessible through dealers. The GM of my local dealer needed to contact Genesis Distribution to get the actual details. My personal order is 59th in the queue at the moment, and confirmed to be on the initial build batch coming late March. My friend who was in 107th ended up switching configurations to a Sao Paulo Lime/Obsidian Black Performance GV60 and got assigned a build order of #70 instead and also in the initial builds coming over.

My dealer was able to provide me the exact build details from distribution including colour and trim codes RJK/GM9 in the case of my car. I also got confirmation yesterday that every car that will be in the initial build batch has been spoken for regardless of trim or colour, so any deposits placed now would be for a custom build to arrive later into the summer.

I was at the Genesis dealer yesterday, in Toronto, and since there was no pricing available I put a deposit on both an Advanced and a Performance and I can cancel either.
What I was told was that pricing would be out by end of March with dealership demo's available by end of April and that my car would likely arrive towards the end of June. Both models are AWD as that is the only configuration available right now.
The salesperson told me about $70K for the Advanced and $80 for the Performance. At those prices I would not have placed a deposit but I did based on your suggestion of $60k. I note that freight and PDI is included (which takes about $2k off the price in comparison to other electric cars).
Advanced White with black interior: no choice on interior with white exterior
Performance: white with torrent blue interior

I wish I could see what the torrent looks like in person. What do you guys think about white and blue?

That seems like late demo timing compared to the two dealerships around me. I'm supposed to have my first test drive in roughly 2 weeks, and a delivery date in roughly 7 weeks from now for my final order. I was also told that by early March pricing would be public for all the trim lines as well.

I personally wouldn't be interested in the car if the Performance trim was $80k either - I'd rather go for the top of the line EV6 GT-Line 2 (57k in Canada) or a Model 3/Model Y LR for 65k-75k. All that said, it's possible those pricing numbers you got are based on the current pricing in South Korea for the same model. I built a rough mathematical model to predict the prices coming over seas for the GV60 a few months ago, and a direct translation from the KRW price would be about 79k CAD for the performance and 72k CAD for the Advanced. In the eventuality that pricing does come in that high, I'd be very tempted to cancel my deposit and go with a different vehicle, but time will tell.

I should also mention from experience that "early adopters" in Canada of new Genesis vehicles get great deals historically. I can't remember the exact figures but a pre-order deposit on a G70 3.3T Sport in Winter 2018 got it for around 52k, a full ~10% less than it was selling once availability was mass market. It's more than possible that pre-orders for the GV60 in this very early 2023MY production run will get cars for cheaper than somebody who waits until the end of 2022 to order as well.

In regards to colour choice - I've seen a lot of divisive opinions on the Torrent Blue/Lime interior - the blue can be very vibrant in some lighting, but it looks very sharp with some exterior colours. Also, it is yet to be seen if that interior choice will come with the suede lining on the seats as well. By default in South Korea that interior colour comes with full Nappa leather but has a $1000 option for suede lining on all the seats too. The Canadian website pictures don't show that, but they also show the exterior with the digital side mirrors that aren't coming to North America either, so there are a lot of blanks waiting to be answered here.

To add clarification to what I suggested about the suede interior, I found direct confirmation from the internal product guide confirming that the Torrent Navy interior will be coming with suede as the only option. I wouldn't be surprised if selecting that interior added roughly $1000 CAD to the selling price as an option if you selected it. In South Korea ~1,200k KRW ($1300 CAD) is required to get that interior option on the Performance trim.

Digital side mirrors are awesome and have been around for a few years now also. Unfortunately the Canadian market (and laws) generally conform to the American ones, where digital side mirrors aren't legal on new cars yet. In jurisdictions like mine in Canada where there aren't regular inspection requirements for vehicles there wouldn't be much stopping somebody from attempting a retrofit but I can't imagine that would be easy, and the software programming might make it impossible.

I doubt until digital side mirrors are made legal on new cars in the states, and corresponding laws in Canada are updated to reflect that, that the DSM would ever come over here, frankly I doubt that would even happen within the lifecycle of this current GV60 itself.

I ordered my on Feb 12, and my dealer had no idea on pricing. For pricing, since Ioniq5 top trim costs about $59k, I think $65k would be a nearest guess. For a built-in dash cam option, it is not available as well and do we attach an external hard drive to do the recording? What do we do with Rust Prove? Do we go to regular place to spray Rush Prove every year? There is an electric system attach to the body of Elantra for rush proving, and does GV60 had a similar system?

That makes ordering very difficult. I wouldn't pay $1000 for the blue and would just take the black. But if I find out in late March that it costs that much more and change my order at that time, I assume I go back to the end of the line?

Yes - whenever you decide to change the order you enter the queue on that day. However, since you were on the list early, you would have first choice among other orders if people cancel theirs earlier in the queue, should that car fit your configuration (but its an unlikely circumstance). Right now my dealer has told me every car for the initial batch has been spoken for as of several days ago and any orders put in now go into the backlog for the build queue.

In that same conversation with them I also had it "unofficially" confirmed that the Blue/Navy interior would be an additional add on alongside the matte paint finishes, so I'd say its highly likely that interior trim would have the additional cost, but anything is possible.

Since the North American cars aren't going to have the built in dash cam equipped, I don't think any of the USB ports will support storage devices besides for media playback.

Rust proofing on a modern vehicle is generally not considered worthwhile and if you chose to have something like that done at time of purchase it would be a dealer purchased/installed add-on, not something from Genesis directly. I can't say I'd be interested in something along those lines, and Genesis already has a 5yr perforation/corrosion warranty included with the vehicle.

Interesting how different your response from your dealer was than my experience in AB. When asked here is the response I received -
“YOUR CURRENT FACTORY BUILD RANK IS UNKNOWN

Here is the current estimated timeline for your pre-order. Please note: Factory orders can take between 3-6 months, I have sent in the order on 02/09/2021 however we currently do not have an ETA for your Genesis but will update you as soon as we do and that until we are assigned a VIN we will not have any updates regarding an arrival date of your Genesis. that all timeframes are estimates and may vary based on potential delays that are out of our control, such as queues at port, quality assurance, weather, pandemic-related issues, or transport delays. Subject to change by the manufacturer without advanced notice”

That is odd. I do know my dealer doesn't have access to the information by themselves. I've been dealing exclusively with the GM of the Genesis/Hyundai dealership and he receives this information from distribution who forward it back to him and he has been very helpful in passing all that information along to me. All that said, it might be possible that if the order you placed never made it into the initial ~500 builds that the factory hasn't assigned a build order yet.

In the most recent email I've seen from the person at distribution, they confirmed that the entire initial build order had been started and no changes/additional builds would be added to it. (And that any new deposits now will go to the custom order queue and built in the coming months for a summertime delivery). I heard "June-ish" when I asked about a couple different colour combinations if I were to change my order, but I decided to keep what I originally ordered and with a build position of 59th right now.

I ordered online on Feb. 8 within an hour of orders opening so would think I am in the initial 500 builds. While the dealership did advise I was in the “first 3” with their dealership, they were largely unhelpful/unwilling to provide some of the information your dealership was helpful with.

That is very weird, and at least my dealer said the first 230 orders from the initial afternoon that deposits were open all got matched with a car in the initial delivery batch. Maybe my dealer has been giving out information they weren't supposed to? Hard to say given the lack of official communication and that everything needs to come from the dealer themselves.

Another buyer from AB here. The confirmation email for my deposit is timestamped ~11AM MT on Feb. 8. I have no idea where I am in the queue, my contact has been pretty silent since.
I was assuming a price of $80K for a Performance model. If the Kia is $62K, add a little for more power, some more for the interior treatments, etc. I would love to hear it come in at $70K, I may walk at $80K.
In addition to pricing, I'd like some details on specific features. I hope the car has full ADB headlights and massage seats (at least for the driver).

I believe in the internal Genesis GV60 document that it contains the final specification for all NA market cars, from the Feb 3, 2022 revision.

Sifting through the document outlining everything about the seats and seating position confirms there won't be any massage seat functions coming here. The ergo motion seats only have the typical driver fatigue reduction features- they will perform the standard scheduled adjustments to keep pressure points shifting during longer drives and have the slight changes in "stretching modes" that force sitting in slightly different positions too. It'll also have the relaxation seat feature to recline back while charging and take weight off the seat bottom. I've attached the image from that document here. In regards to the ADB style lighting, there is no mention of hardware or software to that effect included. I wouldn't be surprised if the headlights were physically capable of it if an OTA update got pushed down the line, but I would almost certainly imagine that won't be the case on delivery.

I'd also suggest reaching out to your dealer and asking if they can confirm your car will be in the initial batch - the worst they could do is just refuse to give you that information I suppose.
