GV60 Canadian Pricing Estimations

So, there ARE changes but no real details. Whether the GV60 will be included under the category of SUVs remains to be seen. If this budget will impact Genesis' pricing structure it looks like we will still have to wait longer to find out pricing.
Sad to say I don't see Genesis pricing coming any time in the next couple of weeks.
Yup. What I read from the budget is that there is more money for EV subsidies, and Transport Canada will soon announce how they'll dole it out.
I, too suspect that this isn't good news for us learning of price points any time soon. Having said that, as long as pricing is announced before our vehicles arrive, it won't cause delays - so half of me asks "what's the rush?" while the other half desperately wants to know so I can stew on whether or not I buy or wait for the Kia to arrive. :)

I would think if Genesis gets word that the Gv60 can qualify for the rebate they will just add 3-5 grand to the price and announce it , problem with point of sale rebates is dealers Will just add a few grand to car prices

If I recall my microeconomics classes from university, theory would say that the impact of taxes or subsidies is shared between buyers and sellers as it shifts the supply curve.

In practice, dealers don't have $5K of space between invoice and MSRP, and don't seem to be selling above MSRP, so consumers are benefitting. In the case of the GV60, I suspect that Genesis Canada's inclination would be to price things above the cut-off for rebates, but if a $1-2K reduction in MSRP made the difference between their customers getting $5K from the gov't, they'd drop the price to move more units.

There are some strange incentives at play here, both now and in the future. EVs are not profitable - at least not prior to COVID, and while I haven't seen data recently, I doubt that has changed given that the average EV contains something like 100 times the number of chips that an ICE does. Manufacturers desperately want to get unit volumes up to build economies of scale and reduce unit costs. Many jurisdictions across the globe are forcing brands to sell a minimum percentage of EVs, so there will be downward pressure on prices for them to hit those numbers.

The Canadian gov't is now heavily subsidizing EV charging. In addition to the purchase incentives in BC and Quebec, charging an EV in provinces with a low-carbon electrical grid can be a money-making opportunity - potentially worth thousands per year per vehicle in Ont, Quebec, BC, etc.

I pushed the sales manager at my deposit dealer hard today for prices.

He said Advanced $69, 999.00 and Performance $79.999.00. He said reveal day May 15

Ouch if that is true, they won't sell much. Personally I would be moving deposit to the Ioniq if that's what they announce next month.

Agreed. I won't buy at that. I'd expect 8-10k less.

How confident was this manager and is this Ontario or?

Just called my sales manager and was advised the same. Advanced is "around" $70K and Performance is $80k.

$8-10K less is impossible. That would put the Advanced below the EV6, not going to happen.
That's fine if that's the case, I personally just wouldn't buy at that price. The value isn't there. An Ioniq 5 Ultimate at $62k is a better car (for me) in almost all respects. It's just a longer wait. I'd settle for a GV60 at a similar or slightly higher price point, just because I could probably get it 8 months earlier.

There's a good chance a $70k advanced won't qualify for any federal rebates, so you're talking about a $13k premium for a nicer interior, but less space overall. I totally get it that that's worth it for some. Maybe I'm just not Genesis' target market.

Anyway, I'll wait and see. It's all just speculation at this point.

I would compare with XC40-recharge, Q4 etron. For entry luxury compact SUV-EV segment, they price below 60000$. So I do expect they will starts at 59999.
Genesis will have to introduce an RWD variant (like the UK had),
Currently CA genesis site only has Advance, Performance. But to compete, they will add the RWD entry version.

As well, there's other luxury. It needs to be competitive within the same segments (if I was an Marketing director at Ca.Genesis).

I’ve been inside an XC40. It’s nothing close to what the GV60 appears to be.

XC40-recharge base has no heat pump neither, but to limited yourself to 59999$, they typically throw in upgrade pacakge to add like, Remote keyless entry, sunroof, heating front seats, and pumps the price for anoterh 5-6k$.
Genesis can do the same, like offering the RWD variant.
I cannot wait for Genesis to annonce their price.
Canadian pricing (BMW/Volvo/Polestar), its typically lowered than US/ Europe if you taken account of the FX rate.

The only safe answer is that our comparable package will be cheaper than the US comparable package cause the US has a tariff on Korean vehicles.
We don't as far as I know!
I really hope that the Performance will not exceed $70k CAD.
And fu$k Doug Ford for removing the Ontario provincial rebates!

I'd love for the Performance model to be $70K, but it's a pipe dream. That would put the Advanced at the same price point as - or below - the EV6. Aside from brand positioning, the Genesis has a number for features the EV6 doesn't. That sort of price is not going to happen.

That is great to know, thank you. However, interest rates for financing are expected to be higher by May 15th compared to February when many of us gave deposits. In February my dealer said the interest rate may be 2.9%. Genesis's delay to announce pricing, may result in an increase in financing charges along with the effect inflation has had since that time. Frustrated and losing interest in so many ways.....

I heard finance is 2.9% and lease is 3.4%.

Just for interest's sake, the Toyota bZ4X pricing as per driving.ca is:

"Toyota’s 2023 BZ4X will start at $44,990 for the front-wheel-drive L model. Top-of-the-range AWD XLEs with the Technology package will set you back $62,750. Look for them in Toyota dealerships some time in June."

(I know the Toyota isn't considered a comparable to the GV60, but this was the time time I saw Canadian pricing that wasn't a wild assed guess.)

Disappointing. In Quebec, with the government rebates

Polestar 2 AWD + one option : 62 000 - 8 000
EV6 GT Line 2 : 62 000 -13 000
Genesis GV50 advanced : 69 000 - 0

That would make genesis 20 000$+ more than the EV6. OUCH !!!

Before their new configuration (starting price at 49 000), Polestar rep told me he would cut 10 000$ off the price to compensate. They figured it out after. Will Genesis make the same mistake. Would they be open to negociation.
