  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

GV60 Canadian Pricing Estimations

I've been reading different threads here including the one on putting down a deposit for a pre-order. I have placed the pre-order for a GV60 Performance last month and was advised by the dealer that we (Canadians) should have pricing info around end of March, with test drive possibly around mid- to end of April. I'm starting to wonder why the delay in getting things confirmed. I agree with Looney100 that the EV6 GT Line pkg2 is a great alternative, with potentially a big $avings - don't forget the $5,000 Federal incentive that the EV6 qualifies. It will make the price difference even bigger. I'm also keeping my eyes on Nissan's Ariya. It may not have the 800 volt system but from a features point of view, it ticks almost every box. BTW, if I plan on charging the vehicle at home using a level 2 charger (99% of the time anyway), will the 800 volt system make a difference?
No your limited by the on board charger to convert from AC to DC to charge the car.

Also you home charger speed is way less then even 50KW level 3 charger.

It really helps mostly at a super charger station.

Nope. Level 2 charging at home is limited by your home’s wattage limitations and the car’s onboard ac:dc inverter.
Benefit of 800V system is in DC fast charging.

The "800V" system will have no impact on your level 2 charging. 800V allows higher level 3 DC charging rates but the level 2 uses AC instead and is purely limited by the inverter included in the GV60. In theory when using an ~800V battery pack system, the same kW output to the motors can be achieved with lesser amperage/current and reduce the waste heat output and use thinner wires and connectors while maintaining the same performance. However, that difference is likely to be minimal and Tesla themselves have proven what a 400V system can do, and still maintain extremely fast charging rates at the same time. 800V is mostly marketing because it sounds "better" and in the real world even while charging the benefit is almost negligible.

Incentives announcement coming on Friday.

Everyone get your popcorn ready. I see the announcement is happening at a GM facility. What can we read from that? Does GM have a vehicle that doesn’t currently qualify that might under the new regs? Is that a good omen for us?

That's a good guess about a GM vehicle coming out that doesn't qualify for the current incentives.

We’ve got the announcement tomorrow, and a vehicle spotted on Ontario roads. My bet is that we’ll see pricing by the end of the month.

If it is to be believed, a person I know who says he has a insider at Genesis head office said that they are in fact going to introduce a single motor GV60 to capture the soon to be announced revised Federal rebate limit of $60,000.00.

He said prices will be Standard RWD $59,999.00
Advanced AWD $64,999.00
Performance AWD $74,999.00

Announcement soon.

Time will tell if his info is accurate, when we see the new rebates tomorrow.

This is a very salient statement. At $75K with rebate eligibility for the Performance model, I’m in.

'IF' we get $5K back on $75k I'm likely out

Tesla played this game a while ago with a stripped down Model 3 to get it eligible for the rebate.
They offer a model that is so unappealing that no one would buy it. I’m this case, $5K gets you the larger battery, AWD/more power and 800V system. Who would buy the $60K model.

For better range/economy?

For better range/economy?
All I interesting comments for sure.

Has anyone else heard from a local dealer that their vehicle is actually in production?

I’ll be watching the Feds tomorrow for sure.

I assumed the ‘Standard’ meant the smaller battery pack, but perhaps that’s not the case.
If it was the smaller pack, RWD efficiency would certainly not be enough to offset the reduced energy capacity.

Its also worth pointing out even in South Korea, the GV60 has never been produced with a smaller battery. Even the lowest RWD trim line there has the same 77kWh as the top trim Performance AWD. I would be surprised if they actually wanted to bring a small battery into Canada but I suppose crazier things have happened

I don't think they would change the battery from the Korean rwd version. It has much better range and rwd is fun. Alot of ev6 reviews prefer the rwd version.

Myself and another forum member (both in Montreal - different dealers) received verbal confirmation that our cars were scheduled for production this month - with ETA for delivery end of June/Early July. Both were Advanced Trim - i think both White with Black interior.

Until i get written confirmation I take everything my dealer says with a grain of salt. Also note we are the only 2 people to have such confirmation ;)

Announcement.
  • Larger zero-emission vehicles (e.g., sports utility vehicles, minivans and pick-up trucks) must have a base model Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price under $60,000. Higher priced versions of these vehicles, up to a maximum of $70,000, are also eligible.

I have it on record from email from the GM of my dealership:

"Apparently they [the gv60 demo cars] are going through Transport Canada right now as this is a completely new model. Our rep did not anticipate these delays"

"I do not know for the demo, but your build is in the first month of production (April), and is currently showing as 57th in line. I would suspect the vehicle should be arriving here around late May."

This is for a Mauna Red/Glacier White Performance model.
