  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

GV60 Canadian Pricing Estimations

I know nothing, but the website says that face recognition and figerprints work without a key "in valet mode"
Limited to valet mode? I'll take a look on the website but that is still pretty limiting.

How easy is it to setup a face and fingerprint? Am I really going to do it for a valet that will drive the car once? And what happens if, by the time I want my car back that first valet has gone home and someone else needs to bring the car to me? Also, how often do people use valet services?

Honestly, the feature would be cool to show off to friends, but carrying a key is going to be much faster, so I don't see myself making much use of it. It won't be a big deal for me whether it's there or not.

Agreed, that seems rather daft. If you say, chose “Valet Mode“ from a menu & set it like a two factor identification with the finger print to prevent the altering of settings, whilst they had the key, that would make sense.

see the other thread on Canadian GV60s. I called Genesis HQ today and the fingerprint is fully functional to start the care WITHOUT the fob

Thanks for the confirmation.
This had to be the case, as the alternatives made NO sense.

On top of that, during my test drive, I watched the manager demo face recognition and fingerprint. We drove off the lot without him carrying the key. Unless he was blatantly lying, you do not need to carry the key.

Reviving an old thread here...

A few of us were wondering if the market was ready for >$100K Genesis vehicles - well, we're going to find out. Genesis has now got the G90 at $115K, and the Electrified G80 at $105K.

Car & Driver just did a comparison of the E-G80 and Mercedes EQE and concluded that the G80 was much better - even at $12K USD less than the MB.

I was one that wondered if the market was ready and I’m still not convinced. Especially when you consider they will soon have the GV90 and how high that could go, especially considering the concerns about the economy.

G80 EV looks great and although itco
WS loaded it’s a big jump from the gas version that starts at 60k

Hard to say cause HMG is kinda shooting themselves in the foot with cannibalizing their own models especially in the lower end like GV60 and equivalent. Plus the Ionic 6 looks fabulous. And so does the EV9 or whatever they are calling their SUV.
I certainly didn't think the GV60 was worth $79k CAD especially after they took away HDA2. Definitely worth it if it had full European or Korean spec.

So after after comparing my GV60 to my previous Ionic 5 ultimate I gotta admit I don't miss the HDA2 all that much. The lane change feature while nice was a little finicky in its engagement and less than smooth with limited availability because its Nav geofenced to very specific controlled highways/expressways and interstates. You have no idea which highways until your actually on them. We have very few of those in Canada outside of more notable expressways such as 401, some ring roads in Sask, Alberta, etc. It won't turn on with any of the highways in Manitoba where I dwell. You can' t even use it on most of the Trans Canada. The only feature of HDA2 that truly shined was the true stop and go when on a congested US interstate, 401, etc. Otherwise its functionally is just a party trick, at least until Hyundai vehicles can do the equivalent of Navigate on Autopilot like Tesla.

What I have noticed is that the HDA in my GV60 is much better at not disengaging on less than perfectly road painted road markings than the HDA2 in my Ionic 5. It has kept course on even newly paved roads without painted lines yet, true black magic. So weirdly despite being technically inferior I find the HDA in my Genesis much better functionally that the HDA2 in my i5 who's build dates were only 5 months apart.

As far as the worth of $79K price tag I think our value perspective may be somewhat provincial. When you consider our American neighbors( and most other worldwide markets) are happy to pay the currency converted equivalent of $95,000 Canadian(69,385U$) + market adjustment fees for the exact same contented vehicle, it feels like a relative bargain at 79 K CAN$

The point of it in the GV60 is that it has the Nvidia based electronics that can be OTA updated to improve the features of the car. So initial implementation of the HDA2 may be inconsistent but Genesis can continually push updates to make it better like Tesla does!

This is indeed is an appreciable feature benefit, it will be interesting to see to what degree Genesis will take advantage of this ability. I have to admit I am skeptical it will be anywhere close to the Tesla experience..

I am FAR from a Tesla fan, but must concede that they have great uI software. Early indication is that Hyundai is far behind.

Well you never know. Tesla has crippled their Auto Pilot by removing their LiDAR sensors first and now their sonic distance sensors to solely rely on their cameras which is proving to be bad.
The Genesis maintains all its sensors except for whichever one it seems to need for HDA2. So there is definitely room for improvement in the software front!

I think you meant Radar sensor as Teslas have never had LiDAR.
