  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

UK pricing is now up on the Genesis website: Your Next Genesis - Genesis Motor Europe

GV60 Premium 47 005 - RWD
GV60 Sport 53 605 - AWD
GV60 Sport Plus 65 405 - High Performance

That places the Sport at the same price as the Kia EV6 GT-Line AWD

Sounds like very good pricing to me

Using this as a rough reference when compared to the EV6 pricing between GBP and CAD, I assume the "sport"/"advanced" will be in the 63-65k CAD range, and the "sport plus"/"Performance" along the 80k CAD line. I'm definitely hoping to be wrong because at this 80k I'll probably drop the preorder and go for a different vehicle.

Hold on, say Sport is more like Advanced, and its 53 605 GBP, and straight conversion would mean that it's $90 685 CAD. Something is off.

The straight conversion is never a fair comparison - we pay significantly less here for all vehicles. By the same direct conversion the EV6 GT-line is 88k CAD as well, which is totally unreasonable. Its more fair to say that the "sport" trim is a few percent more expensive than a EV6 GT-line 2 and then say a few percent higher than the 62k CAD price would be in the 65k CAD range.

Ya. Can't do a simple forex adjustment on UK vehicle prices. I think the comparison vs. the Kia is the most reasonable method as it would also account for any differences in tariffs as they both originate from the same country. I'm surprised that pricing for the UK has been posted before Canada, as I understand that it was announced for the market much later than Canada.

The more I think of it, I can't imagine an $80K price tag. The most expensive Kia is $62K, and eligible for a $5K rebate. It would be hard to justify the price delta. If the GV60 is $80K, what do we get for the $23K difference?

480HP vs. 320HP
Nicer interior
Face/fingerprint recognition
???

The most expensive ICE GV70 is CAD$76 000 and the electrified GV70 will have the same power as the GV60 Performance but more expensive. So I see that being in the $85k range and the smaller GV60 in the 75k range. There has to be some justification in price differences.

I agree with the CAD 63-65k for the Advanced

Another difference: The Kia is likely to have 70KM greater range than the Genesis. What's that worth?

I was just reading some messages in some EV6 forums. Dealers seem to be asking upwards of $10K above sticker for EV6s. I wonder if similar would be happening in Canada. That would close the price gap to the GV60 a fair bit. The Ioniq 5s I've seen advertised by dealers have not been at a premium, so maybe we'll be able to avoid such here.
The vehicle situation in the US is exceptionally bizarre. I recently read an article that stated that something like only six car brands sold, on average, for less than MSRP in a recent month.

Fortunately we don't need to worry about that in Canada since we have laws against it.

Here's a link to the US EV dealer markup tracker and you can get a picture of how awful it really is down south:

Regardless, while supplies might be limited/timelines delayed the EV6 and Ioniq 5 in Canada will be sold at MSRP - some dealers might try and force you to take some dealer installed accessories with purchase like mats and such but there won't be any "market adjustment" sort of thing applied to the vehicles up here. Likewise, the GV60 will also be sold at whatever the MSRP comes in at, so it can be a fair comparison to the real MSRP of the EV6 as well.

UK prices include VAT which definitely isn't applicable to North America.

In this thread I created a rough comparison/estimation of pricing without VAT/first registration fees/etc.

I didn't know we had laws preventing sales above MSRP. Personally, I don't agree with price controls - esp. in liquid markets - but I won't be crafting any protest signs in this instance. :)
I did notice that on the Kia website it said that dealers are able to charge an admin fee of up to $499. I suspect there will be a few making use of that.

Absolutely - admin/documentation fees, freight/delivery, PDI, etc are all fair game here. It's worth pointing out I don't believe its a federal law thats as blanket as one might think. It's also my understanding that many/most manufacturers that sell cars into Canada have their own restrictions around pricing. I can recall some instances of limited production run vehicles selling above MSRP in Canada - perhaps a situation in which a dealer "bought" the car and represents it as "used" with markup. Regardless of the reasons behind it its very rare to see new vehicles transact above the sticker price that includes the standard dealer fees you can't get away from.

Just changed colour from matthorne matte to uyuni white. Was weird on the website I could not order the ash grey interior with the uyuni white online but my dealer made the change for me no problem. (Performance model)

I think the uyuni white and ash grey interior will look great. Wonder if it would have moved my place in line?
