  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

GV70 Dash Cam

I never said Dongar. it is a dongle/adapter made by FitCamX, to use the their cameras only. not sure why you keep posting about the DONGER. when I was trying to sell a FitCamX forward facing camera, with their adaptor to connect to the auto dimming mirror power.
Was just clarifying the connections weren't the same but seems I might have misunderstood what you were saying then. My apologies for that.

I got a custom Dash cam from FitCamx. Had it installed and love it. Due to a misunderstanding by my installer and GREAT customer service from FITcamX, I have a second unused Unit. I am looking to sell for $120.00 + shipping. its 4K and has a 128G micro SD card included. I added a picture next to my installed unit.
It is not allowing a PM. I am assuming the item is not still available.

I just bought from Amazon and installed a Dongar adapter and
OMBAR Dash Cam Front and Rear 4K/2K/1080P+1080P 5G WiFi GPS, Dash Camera for Cars with Free 64G SD Card, Dual Dash Cam with WDR Night Vision, 24h Parking Mode,170°Wide, G-Sensor, Loop Recording, APP
Part of the attraction is the price - $70 after coupon. I couldn't find any other cam with comparable spec close to this price. It is compact and fits neatly below the rear view mirror cover.
The Dongar adapter fits with a bit of gentle coaxing.
Running the cable to the rear camera - You'll need both a wedge shape plastic pry tool(supplied) and a similar blunt one to push the cable between seals and panels.
The cable supplied for the rear camera is much longer than necessary so you need to stow the excess. The way I did it is to remove the center panel at the top of the hatchback door.It just pulls off the 6 push clips - careful! I drilled a hole in it to allow the rear cam cable to pass through. There is lots of space for excess cable in the metal paneling beneath the plastic cover you remove. Nice and neat install.
Best of all the cameras work without using an App.The enclosed Instructions are clear and worked first time.Don't forget to Format- it's easy -takes 11 seconds. Hope this encourages others to try it.

Is it a plug and play install?

Whatever dash cam you install, strongly recommend hardwire to the fuse box below the steering wheel so you can take advantage of parking features when the car is off, such as motion and shock detection (presuming your cam has them), when you are parked in a public place. If you're ever hit and the driver leaves, if you have rear and front cameras, there is a chance you may capture the culprit, maybe even a license plate. It's worth the little bit of extra effort and the cost of a couple of fuse taps. Wire runs across headliner, down A pillar into side of dash where you can easily get to fuse box. There is a bolt there for the ground.

I have the Viofo A129 Plus Duo, and they make a hard wire kit for CAD$30 or USD$20, that includes a battery protection module so your cam won't kill your car battery. It will cut power to the cam if your car battery drops below the level of 3 options you choose on the module. Have had mine for almost a year and no issues.

it is still available. based in USA

The Fitcamx is the perfect dash cam for the GV70...Replaces the factory shroud on your windshield that covers the wiring going to your auto dimming rearview. It uses the same wiring to power the dash cam that is part of the replacement shroud that houses the camera. Really easy install and clean factory look. Nice quality !

Agreed, I love mine. still have the extra front facing available :)

I know this isn't the right spot, but just wanted to put it put there
I got a $20 off code from Tuxmatt, that I am not using. hope it works for someone :) Valid til 10/25

I am thinking about buying one of these. Have you had any issues since installing and how is the clarity? I was also wondering if the small plastic part you install to cover the wires comes with it or if you have to use your existing one as the one in my car is beige.

I have the same CAM and the video is very very clear. Everything you need comes in the box

Except...only works if car is running hooked up this way. So provides zero protection when car is off...like hit and run in a parking lot etc. If that added protection of shock and motion detection when car is off is not important given anyone's particular situation, then maybe this is good enough.

If you're in Canada, Fitcamx is waaay too much $$ for what you get, unless you like paying a $150+ for a $5 plastic shroud. To match my Viofo dual cam, hard wire kit that has battery protection (not sure if fitcamx does that), looking at CAD $369 shipped (not including duties and Cdn taxes). I would go for a better quality cam at that price. Paid just over CAD$200 for my Viofo set up from Amazon.ca, I think during black friday sales last year. I don't know how long Fitcamx has been around, Viofo has been around for quite a while and this is my 3rd unit....they have all been flawless.

If you're in Cda and considering a cam, one place you can have a look at is blackboxmycar.ca. They also sell via Amazon. That's how I got mine.

I went through the same process - shipping and conversion rates kill this option for us in Canada. I ordered a Vantrue E1 for $150 from Amazon, shipping included. It's a 2.5K camera that does everything I need it to do. Plugged it into the mirror with an adapter cable so I don't even have to run cables anywhere. 10 minute install.

it is still available, Will do $100.00
