  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I’ve had my 2022 GV70 for a week and just discovered that the lock button, on all four doors, doesn’t work. The unlock button is working, because I can hear it click when pushed. But when I push the lock button, on the door panel there is nothing. Has anyone experienced this prob?

hmm interesting. didnt experience that in my GV70 as lock is always working on 4 doors (granted i use the door sensor mostly).

for me the unlock only does the driver door unless pressed twice (option through the settings). kind of wished it had a 1 hit unlock for all doors.

Can't you set it for one push to unlock all?

Unlocking only the driver door is a security measure as you don't want some car jacker jumping in when you get in.

I tried once and it didn’t work for 1 tap unlock 4 doors (door sensor and keys). Might be worth checking once more. The settings have a 2 press unlock and when it’s “off” the door sensor and key fob only opened the driver door.

Great security feature for sure but Now I’m curious to test “on vs off” again

I’m used to my Ford vehicles. When exiting the car, you press the lock button on the arm rest, all doors lock, and you close the door. You can’t do that on the GV70 and probably other models. It’s a first world problem!

The Jeeps I owned used to work like that, too. Fortunately, I was a short walk from home when I locked my keys in the car by pressing the button on the door. After that I made sure to only use the key fob to lock the doors.

It is extremely difficult to lock your keys in a Genesis.

Our GM cars had a 10 second lock delay after you push the button inside the car. You would get out of the car close the door 10 seconds later it would lock if there were no keys in the car. If it detected a key in the car it would never lock the doors. Seems like a much better system than what Genesis has now but other than that I love the car.

That sounds nice. I would like an auto lock feature similar to that.

There is a reference to an auto lock feature in a manual that Genesis produced for the 2021 G80 head unit. It's the same infotainment hardware that is in the 2021 GV80 and the 2022 GV70. As far as I know, the functionality was not implemented for any of those 3 vehicles, although I know of know reason why that support could not be implemented in the future.

What if you took 12 seconds to get out and grab the bag of groceries? On my G80 I just touch the button on the outside handle and the door lock. Seems pretty simple.

You are right, Ed. It is pretty simple. and I find it easy to lock the car by just tapping the door handle.

How about something like this?

Setup > Vehicle Setting > Locks > Auto Lock >

Under that menu item a check box to enable/disable.
A numeric value (that when enabled) is the number of seconds of delay after which the car will lock when (key fob, UWB device, BLE device) leaves the proximity.

That could work

Leave the door open as long as you want. Doors locked 10 seconds after the last door closed.

I too have a Ford that has the convenient door lock button. I keep looking for it on the GV!

Many Honda/Acura models have a walk-away auto lock feature so as long as you have your fob with you, when you walk more than 5 ft away from your car, it will lock and arm the alarm automatically for you. It will not do that as long as it detects a key fob inside the vehicle so there’s no chance of locking the fob inside the car. This includes the trunk.

But on the GV70, don’t you guys just close the door behind you and then gently place your hand on the exterior door handle for a second and then all the door lock?

^^This is exactly what I do. There is a short delay that is sometimes annoying before you hear them click. I guess I'm in too big a hurry to get on my way. They've just replaced the "door button" with a touch sensitive handle. Works for me!

I picked up my car late Monday. Got a few lessons at that time but not near enough to learn everything. Thanks for the tip!

Hey no worries, I’m still learning a lot about the car after almost 3 weeks! But yeah, most German cars (of which the Genesis is an honorary one) have this same touch sensitive door lock system on the handles.

I too find the short delay a bit annoying. On my other cars, after closing the door, I touch the handle and immediately walk away and you know immediately if the door locked. The delay in locking with the Genesis is annoying because every now and then, if you miss the spot, I'm a couple feet away already and have to go back to retouch the door. Yes, a minor inconvenience but once you had something that worked almost perfectly, anything less is annoying.

Auto-walk-away-door-lock is also in the GV70 navigation manual that came with the car. Why would they keep printing it if no Genesis has it implemented? Maybe there is a trick to unlock the feature?
