  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

GV70 - honest discussion

I received my unyi white ultramarine blue last week. It’s beautiful and the design resonated. There are plenty of great cars out there. They’ve been refined over many years and this is just the beginning or early years for the Genesis brand. There are some things tgat need improving a dms hopefully some will not wait for the next model year but in totality the package is pretty unique and refreshing.

Updates Desired:
1. Wireless Carplay
2. iPhone Digital Key
3. Better gas mileage
4. More gauge cluster themes
5. More 14” themes
6. More ambient lighting color choices
7. Attention to detail on surface propensity for fingerprints including door handles, console, and glossy buttons
8. Service: Stand alone genesis dealers to focus attention on the brand and the brands customers. Sitting in-line with other brands to get service on a luxury vehicle will get old regardless of how good the people are.
9. Service: More Genesis loaner cars at dealers.

I'd add rotating head-lights, more adjustable head rest and a baffled exhaust with more real noise.

That's why I prefer the Aussie Genesis Customer model.

Direct sales, Genesis Concierge for 5yrs, Free servicing, Free roadside assist, they come and pick up your car (at your home or work) and drop you off a loan car... then bring it back to you after servicing is complete.. so no dealership BS, no waiting, no queues and no issues about no loaners being available.

Much more a proper 'luxury' experience.

How do you like your GV70? Is it a Prestige model? Any issues with it so far?

Yeah, I am looking hard right now at an Audi Allroad wagon that has the matrix lamps — neutered by the NHTSB

Maybe someone can come up with a hack to activate some of the locked features the way FORScan does for Fords & Mazdas.

The above video is talking about the G80. Does anyone know for sure that the gv70 headlights are potential full matrix AFTER nhtsb ok's their use - i.e. a software enablement?

Don't know that answer but would be doubtfull from an expense point of view. Here's a US 2021 GV80 headlight assembly w pics. Part # & retail price in attachment.

You might have a point however trade in value on my 2019 Honda Ridgeline is so high ( 40k which is more than I paid for it 2 years ago) that if I do a single pay lease/trade I would essentially be paying the entire lease up front, saving a ton in interest and taxes (8% here in AZ) so yes.. still paying top dollar but if the residual is 57% or less the buy out could be favorable or just turn it in.

My feeling is with the Government shoving electric down our throats buying a high end, high performance gas vehicle might not be a great idea. Everyone is now paying full MSRP on anything that is desirable because of the China/Covid/chip shortage and from what I read that is going to last another year. Time will tell. For now the whole economy is upside down with many people coming out way ahead financially due to the China flu and now that it's essentially over people are throwing money around like drunken sailors inflation or not.
I look forward to electric vehicles, and I am excited about them. I do believe the push towards electric is being driven by climate change, am I mistaken? It's unfair to blame the government, who is responding appropriately. But really, the US give doesn't do shit in terms of writing laws that limit __X__, it's mostly decisions by other governments that are driving the trend. Many or most European governments have banned sales of new ICE cars by 2030, and they are not allowed in so many places, like cities or city centers. It's nice not to have to breathe deadly yellow-brown smog every goddamn day (I lived in LA in the 80's, so I motherf%&#ing know), and it's also nice to have an earth that supports life as we know it.

You come off as a racist maga f$%kface in this comment.
You do understand that 99 percent of electric vehicles will be powered by COAL? Do you further understand that emissions are are much much lower today from ICE (sorry if you feel the acronym is a microaggression) vehicles than those in the 80's. Also understand that even if the US completely stops generating fossil power today it will have zero effect on climate change. The push is simply to redistribute wealth by way of carbon credits. Read the studies, know the facts. Electric cars are terrible for the environment. Just wait until everyone is charging when there is a huge load on the grid. So the plan is to let china and others pollute while we foolishly subsidize electric cars and fall further behind....follow the money.

The GV70 has the same matrix lamp units in South Korea, alongside every other Genesis with the new split lamps. Again, nobody knows if the North American models actually have the matrix components built in or whether they're software-blocked. Not to mention that messing with region-blocked software is a great way to revoke your warranty.

The actual percentage is 19. And your analysis gets worse from there.

Electricity in the U.S. - U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA)
while true his numbers were off significantly, only 20% of energy produced in the US is "Green" Energy (60% fossil fuels). that doesnt take into account the mining of lithium and other materials. to add to it, they are significantly less efficient and significantly more costly to get into the energy grid.

We are a long way off from being able to power a nation of EV with renewable energy. All this money that is being put into pushing renewable energy needs to be spent on making those processes more efficient and cost effective.

The analysis is spot on and you have yet to provide evidence to the contrary but for your dismissal without basis. The fact that renewables are used to generate 19 percent of electric does not mean that 19 percent of all electric car charging is powered by renewables. I understand that this kind of analytical thinking is way beyond the scope of your capabilities. Further consider that the amount of power generated by renewables without adding more equipment is finite. So when you plug your new EV in, that extra power is all generated by fossil fuels until they expand renewable capacity/capability. As others have mentioned the damage done by mining and ultimately recycling these batteries is staggering. Add the extra insurance costs due to the high cost to repaired the EV's and its a fools errand. I love ev because they are fast, but they do nothing but damage the environment and make the working class pay for electric toys for the well off. While I would take the tax credit, I dont think it should be offered. The money should be returned to the taxpayer.
