  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

GV80 Bugs & Other Issues

So mic position has been found, so my headrest theory doesn't hold water. But it's always safest to adjust the headrest in a car to be optimal for accidents. :)
Ubetcha! :)

I agree on the service. Until they actually have a dedicated Genesis dealer and you have to go through a Hyundai dealer- the service won’t be there. Seems like once you buy it you are on your own. My dealer doesn’t answer emails or follow up on service issues. Learned more from this Blog than the dealer knows. Had a Navigation issue that they had to put a ticket in as they couldn’t figure it out. Ticket was done in March. Someone on this blog told me there was a software update in April. Did it and problem fixed. Dealer still hasn’t contacted me.
You may have a Lemon as my last car was a Jaguar F Pace.
Was at the dealer 15 times for engine lights which were various problems. They put over $15 K in new parts over 4 years. Exhaust system . Turbo Charger and on it went. Dealer was great but car was a Lemon. It happens. Mine was first year model. I’m sure there are some GV80 Lemons out there in this first year. There is protection available from some government agencies on Lemons. Check it out.
Yeap, it turned out I got a lemon. I did a test drive with the same model at the dealer and the difference was so obvious. After they road-force balanced the tires, it did not fix the problem. The next step, according to them, could be some replacements such as: tires, wheels, driveshaft... but I did not care since it will be a long way to go. After I complained to the dealer manager regarding the quality control of Genesis, he agreed to buy back the car with 1k less than the original purchase price. It means I will lose 1k and the tax amount of the car if I choose to cash out. To avoid the tax loss, I traded it in for the prestige package after tested drive 3 times. I now can sleep well and love the car so much. The car is extremely quiet and runs so smooth. The prestige is worth every penny. The active noise cancellation makes the cabin noticeably quieter at a high speed than the Advanced. The only issue of the prestige is the 22in wheels which may cause "harsh ride" according some reviews. Honestly, I could not feel any improvement (softer) from the 20in wheels of Advanced package during the test drives. With similar configuration on the GLE 450, Genesis costs around 10k less. Win-win.

Good to hear! FWIW, I have 22s and I’ve been playing around with tire pressure, up and down, matched and different, front and rear per specs, etc.. So far, 36# front and rear seems to be working best all around. It seems to help the wheels and suspension do a little bit better job on our s****Y roads around here. Still maybe not as well controlled as I might like sometimes, but definitely perceptibly better on the crap I have to drive on.

I am amazed how the ride quality of the 22" wheels are affected by the tire pressure. When I had mine serviced at 6K the Hyundai mechanic put all 4 tires ~40 PSI. I noticed something wasn't right within a mile after leaving the dealer. Before you judge the ride check the tire pressures!

I love the 22in wheel set. It looks so cool and provides better handling. I don't care when expert reviews dislike the 22in wheels. All depends on how soft you want with your tires. Moreover, upgrading to 22in wheels will cost an arm and a leg if your car is X5 or GLE. IMO, it will get same harsh as the GV80. In fact, if you add all features of the prestige package (Nappa, 22in wheels, soft close, roof liner...) into a GLE 450, the GV80 costs around 10k less.

Also, you can buy a set of 20in OEM on Ebay to replace the 22in set. But I am pretty sure you will be disappointed. I tested drives twice with the Advance package on the same road condition, the difference is not noticeable.

I've checked with my dealer and had of course also posted my query on this forum about why the recommended pressures for the 22's on the Canadian Prestige (which are all 3 row) are 36 front and 42 rear. No one has offered an answer. I have noted that the 3 row is only 103 pounds heavier than the 2 row, so that can't account for the difference. I've dropped the pressure in the rear by a couple of pounds and that seems to have helped. Going on line, I have seen that the British give recommendations for 3 people plus luggage at 33/39 and 5 plus luggage at 39/45, so there seems to be no consistency. I guess we will have to experiment keeping an eye both on handling and uneven wear across the tread. I would guess that as long as we keep the cold pressure no lower than 33, we would be able to safely drive, although that might expose the wheels to greater risk of damage if you hit a pot hole or steel plate in a construction area. It would be helpful if the engineering folks at Genesis weighed in.

hmmm ? I traded a Tesla Y performance. I think the GV80 is vastly superior to the offerings from Cadillac, Jag, Merc, BMW, Alfa.

Webmoto, did you find the GV80 service manual online or did you have to purchase it? I've got a misalignment between the rear hatch and the right rear fender .It's likely there is some adjustment point if I just knew where it was. I'm trying to avoid having to purchase a pricey service manual or taking it to the dealer and possibly having a bigger problem.

Thanks so much for this. As I never plan to drive my GV80 at 160 kph or higher, I guess I can lower the pressures to the standard recommendation of 33/36. I still can't figure out why they don't put this same information on the door plate or even in the owner's manual. Further, it's more than a little disappointing that neither the dealer nor Genesis Canada chose not to make the effort you did to track this down.

I gave up trying to find various info by contacting the dealer and/or Genesis Canada. I ended up buying few days of access to the tech site.

Mine wasn't getting great gas mileage until I took it out on a few road trips. Now that I'm over 1500 miles it's averaging 20 around city even without taking a trip on that same tank of gas. So it just needs to get broken in I think before you see better gas mileage.
Thanks. It has been getting better. I think up around 17Mpg now. But We are going to break it in really well soon. Going to
Phoenix from Montreal for the winter early November. 2400 miles over 4 days highway driving. That should break her in.
Will keep track of mpg on the trip. Keep you posted.

Which site did you access to get the service manual?

If it helps,, i noticed turbo lag, a miniature glove box, lack of bass in the stereo, lack of a middle rear seat, crappy gas mileage, lack of cup holders, no seat massager as advertised, no spare tire, poorly designed rear cargo system, the round crystal ball thingy doesn't work as anticipated. Otherwise, I am happy with the car.
I had terrible mileage for awhile but just turned 5500 miles and
Drove Montreal to Phoenix. 24-25.8 mpg on regular gas. I have tons of bass. Love the crystal ball to change gears as I came from Jaguar F Pace. Once you get used to it- it’s the best. Car is 11 months old. No issues or recalls and was super comfy driving across the country. 16 hours first day and no sore back, butt or legs. Awesome car. Trunk is huge in the 5 seater. No spare wasn’t expected and water bottle storage is small but livable. Centre console is huge and deep. You can put 2 bottles in there easy.

Thanks for the quick response. I tried signing up. Created a user ID without issue. When I tried to subscribe to a plan I get the message "Please contact HAEA Helpdesk to report any problems 1-855-443-6357." Tried on various computers and various browsers. Same issue. Called the number and they said they don't deal with individuals, only dealers. Redirected me to Genesis USA retail support. No help. Still don't have a service manual. Very frustrating.

I ended up buying few days of access to the tech site.

Once you purchased the access, did it let you download PDFs of the manual and all the other documents? Or do you completely lose access once the subscription ends?
