  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

GV80 USA Build and Reserve Page

My point is very simple- if anyone is buying a car for the badge and the prestige and lifestyle that comes along with it, they likely would not consider Genesis. It doesn't matter how good their vehicles are if what you value is being pampered by a brand. Surely, it's not unreasonable to expect better service or a dealership separate from Hyundai. That will come in due time. But there's a reason why the cars are currently cheaper than the competition to begin with, and why they don't have a million customization options like the Germans. When you go to any of those other brands, you are paying extra for those privileges, those wider customization options, for those fancier coffee machines, and for the prestige of the badge. You are not paying extra for the quality of the car.

Demanding that Genesis make a car of the same quality (which presumably they have), while offering the same level of individual customization options, the same pampering services, and for 30% cheaper or well below a German CPO car to match that of a mid-trim Palisade (sold in the same dealership) is absurd. It goes against the very math of why these cars can be offered cheaper than the competition. What you are basically asking is for Genesis to eat their costs and make no profit, just because you aren't willing to pay extra for their badge like you do with the Germans. Explain to me how that does not sound like self-entitlement?

Genesis's entire gimmick since their launch has been making vehicles that are competitive in design, engineering, and quality as that of other luxury brands for thousands less, with simple package customizations, without cutting corners in the design and simply rebadging their FWD lineup like Lexus/Acura/Lincoln/Cadillac. There's little heritage to be had from the brand, and that's the entire point of their "young luxury" message. But what you get is a car that rivals the competition and even surpasses them in some ways, for far less. And I would much rather they focus on making the best cars as possible rather than try to sell a lifestyle. People visit a dealership maybe 4 times a year. But they sit in their car almost every day.

^ I guess we will see but I think Genesis can get to the point where where consumers perceive them to provide the same quality, lifestyle, services, etc. that the Germans do. We need to keep in mind that Genesis is a very young company and is just really starting to crawl. Wait until they are running and I think you will see an entirely different situation.

I totally agree on people having unrealistic expectations about price as there have been a number of discussions on that.

Consumers do not buy luxury vehicles just because they are quality vehicles, there are many other, more important, reasons each person has for doing so. If all they wanted was quality, they could get a much less expensive vehicle that would perform the same utility.
And if best bang for the buck we would buy them at least 3 years old. I know how to get the best value for my automotive dollar but instead, I buy what I want.

Of course, Genesis's approach isn't anything new, it's identical to what Lexus did in the late 80s with the LS and its bargain basement price as it was sold at Toyota dealerships. But such an end result takes time, and it's likely that by that point Genesis will be an entirely different entity. Too many hypotheticals to discuss- all we have to judge Genesis with is what their current practices are.

I just got a tweet response from Genesis USA saying the Prestige package comes with the 3rd row.

I've had an email inquiry into them since this past weekend with an assigned case# and still haven't gotten a response back about that very question. Glad to hear it!

I looked at their tweet reply to your inquiry and even though they say "yes" it includes the third row their link to the current configurator shows exactly the opposite - Prestige includes the contents of Advanced NOT Advanced+ with the 3rd row. If this is a simple mistake in the configurator - FIX THE DAMN CONFIGURATOR and end the speculation.

I have a question in with a case number for over a week, my guess is they are getting inundated plus the information may not all be available yet.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
please text them asking about if it will offer massage seats on passenger side and if they will also have the satin finishes (they call matte satin. lol

I did tweet at them asking about the massage seats.

Since the press release last week only mentioned heated and ventilated seats along with the Driver's Active Motion seat I think it is unlikely that the passenger seat will have that option. Hopefully in future years. Then again, the best selling SUV in the category by over double the second place vehicle doesn't have any massage seats.

I have again studied the Configurator and this is what I believe they mean:
Order the 3.5 4WD, then add the ADVANCE
Then if you want you can add the ADVANCED + (which is 3 row seats) if you only want 2 row seats don't add the ADVANCED +
Then you add Prestige option.
Again for 2 rows seats, don't add the ADVANCED+, skip this stage.
That is my take on this whole Configurator.

Hey, that's awesome stuff. I bet you are right. I"m going to wait until we find out more and just order when I'm closer to getting a new SUV. I assume I'm going to get the Prestige, but if I do, I want to order the colors I want in the fully loaded. I'd get the third row, but am concerned about no spare. I've always owned a spare, even with my M cars years ago.

Well my email inquiry with regard to the 3rd row and the Prestige package resulted in this not so helpful response :(

Possibly except if that is what they intend then the configurator is still NOT programmed correctly because you can't do a multi-select of Advanced+ and the Prestige packages.

Actually that gives us hope for a few areas if it is true that the specs have not be finalized yet. That could end up resulting in a greater diversity of offerings in the near future. At least we can hope.

Heck, my dealer in Meriden, CT doesn't even know about how to take a pre order, lmao. They should read this site a bit, lol..
