  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I searched for other threads and found one on how easy it is to replace the high beam bulbs in the 4.6. I have managed to remove the three bolts holding the fuse box to get to the drivers side bulb. Mission accomplished on that side. But the thread said remove one bolt to get the air cleaner out of the way on the passenger side. Removing the one bracket bolt doesn't allow enough movement to get at the bulb. I have a 2011 4.6 if that makes a difference. What am I missing?

John I don't think you are missing anything, maybe I have smaller hands since I am able to get to the headlight with just removing the 1 bolt for the air cleaner assembly, but the assembly does come out pretty easily if you need to remove it for full headlight access on the passenger side.

Scott,

I can't figure how the front of the assembly is being held in place. I would remove the whole assembly if I could figure out what's holding the front by the headlight assembly.

You must remove the air filter assembly. It is easy, but first you must remove the ornamental fascia that fits over part of the assembly. It is also easy. It is just push/pin fasteners and two 10 mm bolts. The air filter assembly is held by three 10mm bolts.
Don't bother trying to figure out how to remove the entire headlight assembly. It is not necessary when changing just a H7 bulb.

I have a 2012 Genesis 3.8. I just replaced the two H7 bulbs as well with Lumenics 5150K bulbs. Wow they look good with the HID and foglamps. Anyways, I had to do the same procedure... the driver side was a piece of cake. The passenger side, I removed the air filter cover, air filter and and the bolt. I also removed the top of the cleaner housing that connects to the intake tube for the engine. That made it easier to get in there. But I could no easily figure out how to release the lower intake tube (held in place with the plastic ratcheting clips to the front intake above the radiator. I was able to pull the lower assembly aside enough to get a hand in there to repalce the bulb. Had I been able to release the clips for the lower intake tube and get that lower housing out of the way, it would have gone a few minutes faster. Anyways, I got it the passenger side bulb replaced as well and a back together. Total time was about 15 min or so.

;)
