  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Had to be towed in today

Thanks Mozz but I was just fishing. Will likely be no way of knowing until you see them on the lot. In the meantime, I and others will be patiently waiting.

+1

You guys are silly. I'll put it this way... Next time my regional manager is in, I will ask him an ETA. He won't know an exact date but he can give me a range of about 2-3 months.

That would be super. I received a courtesy call from local Hyundai dealer regarding my prospective purchase of a Genesis and possibly taking a test drive. I thanked him but said that when the 2012 comes in, I plan to be first in line for a test drive. He obviously had no delivery date but promised to keep me informed.

All done. Car is back home in the garage with a new fuel pump. The ride home from the dealership was awkward given that I've been driving a rickety old Sienna for the past three days. Very happy to have the Genny back!

It was obviously a pain in the butt to have a car with only 9600 miles leave me stranded and then inconvenienced for several days, but nothing in life is 100%. Hopefully it'll be trouble-free from here on out.

Great news and time to enjoy the car once again.

What was the cause of failure? And is it confirmed?

The dealer will have no idea what the cause was. All they say is that it is bad and they replace it. The part is "called" back to the local plant for diagnostics SOMETIMES. About 1 in every 20 parts deemed failed is sent back to Hyundai for diag... Most of the time you will find the part in the dumpster behind the dealership.

Right. When I asked over the phone if the FP was the issue, I was told, "well, we can't get any pressure". Seems like standard procedure is to replace the pump. So far, so good. If it happens again then there is probably something upstream causing a problem, but hopefully that isn't the case.

The acceleation seems improved since I got the car back. I used to have a sputtering feel when starting up hills, that I attributed to the transmission being in too low a gear and needing a downshift. It was getting more noticeable and I was thinking about telling the dealer about the driveshaft/washer TSB that some of you have had done for the "fluttering" issue. The sputtering effect has been diminished which makes me think the fuel pump may have been faulty for a while.

I'd be more concerned with the answer you got when you called Hyundai for a Tow then a failng part, that is rediculous.
