  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

so I got a nail in the front left of my hankooks. they can't replace it or repair it. basically Hyundai wont let them get new hankooks. so I plugged it and have been driving on them till the new tires came in that are part of the campaign.

this is what I decided to do with the old ones for giggles. might as well, they make the dealers drill holes in the sidewalls of the hankooks when they take them off and then take pictures to prove they did it.

it was over 100 out and I had been driving around....it needed some water on the ground to get it started.

enjoy! for whatever reason the thread wont let it embed.

Pictures of the inside of your wheel wells?

I've always wondered but have never known who to ask. Does this sort of thing cause any damage/premature wear along the drive train somewhere?

Maybe not, but It certainly can't help!

I do declare the smell of burning rubber came through my screen for 10 minutes.

To be honest, I don't really care what it does to the drivetrain. it has a 10 year warranty. plus with that logic, just driving it is bad for the drivetrain and I should park it. :)

Dealer didn't care either, I told them I was going to do it before the new tires were ready. I showed the service manager the video and we had a good laugh.

I don't have any pics of the inside of the wheel wells, but I can tell you the rubber was thick and it was all over the bottom of the mufflers too. The inside of the car smelled bad for a couple of days. I think it got into the A/C filter.

meh...oh well it was fun.

Waiting on new rear rims now because the tire machine scratched the old ones when putting on the new procontacts. The service manager was not happy with his tech to say the least. The Dealer is very nice and doing everything to make it right.

This made me giggle :D

the smoke was so thick I could not see anything. I was worried about where my wife was filming and was afraid she was going to have trouble breathing so I let off sooner then I wanted too. I was only about half way down to the wear bars on the tires, I wanted to go longer.

the trans kept hunting for gears until I found the sweet spot and got the car to commit to an rpm in a single gear.. (3rd gear at about 5000rpm or so)..you can tell when that happens when the smoke really starts pouring out.

I think I'll rename these tires Han-Cocked! lol!

lol nice, that's exactly what I plan on doing to mine when I decide to do the Michelin swap....probably will tape up the fenders and mufflers...I hate scraping rubber!

it would be the continentals on the v8. when you take the car in for the new tires, just make the dealer wash the rubber all off when they wash the car.
