  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello All,

I bought a windshield phone mount with a charger and now I have to figure out how to power it. I don't want cords hanging on the steering column and the cord that can reach the center console for power are to think and the console door wont close. I saw some people have hardwired a female cigarette lighter type socket. But i'm not sure were to connect it. I have seen some fuse adapters used but which fuse would be best to add it to. I have a 2011 4.6 loaded Genesis Sedan.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Did you resolve your problem? My suggestion is to look around for a dash USB charger...that is, you don't SPECIFICALLY need at 12V power receptacle to charge a phone or other device (Garmin, etc). I have a 1996 38' Safari Serengeti motorhome that needed a 'tech update' and I was able to find a suitable place on the dash, and installed a dual USB charging port, and it looks like a factory install. That's my suggestion. You will need to find a sutable place and DRILL a hole for the socket if you decide to go that way.

Another way to do it would be to run a charging cable up under the trim to over the rear view mirror and just have a pigtail hanging down only when you need it.
