Interesting ... but ... I don't want any money ... I want the functionality ...
Update: there is now a class action lawsuit on this. We’ll see if it goes anywhere.

Hyundai class action claims BlueLink feature rendered obsolete upon 3G sunset
Hyundai and Genesis sold vehicles between 2014 and 2020 that were equipped with BlueLink connected services features that relied on now-defunct 3G technology supplied by Verizon to function, a new class action lawsuit alleges.topclassactions.com
Yeah... Fat chance that anyone sees a nickle from that. Unfortunately. There is a class action lawsuit filed against Hyundai and Genesis regarding promoting sale of cars with 3G system when they new it was going to become obsolete.
Prob a check for a dollar and some changeFat chance that anyone sees a nickle
The lawyers will.Yeah... Fat chance that anyone sees a nickle from that. Unfortunately.
Not going anywhere as there is an arbitration clause. I'm a lawyer and I will arbitrate the matter as I have the Platinum warranty and since the modem is in effect defective and it is not listed as an exclusion what's the defenseUpdate: there is now a class action lawsuit on this. It will be the same as what you had.I have a 2019 G80 and the Lexicon stereo died (3G head unit). Genesis is replacing the head unit free of charge. I asked the service manager if the new head unit would be 4 or 5G and he was clueless. It is scheduled to be installed Jan 15th 2024. I wonder if I will be able to use Genesis Connected Services if the head unit is not another 3G model.
Having a working modem in a modern car is not the equivalent of a tape deck not working. It is an essential element. This is a major design mistake but one also made by many other manufacturers (including, e.g., BMW). The designer should have recognized the importance of this technology and designed the head unit to permit replacement of the modem chip.Aside from replacing the very expensive head unit that has the integrated modem I don't know if there is a solution. I know LG made some and I think Harmon Kardon made others but not sure. They are the real culprits. It is not the same as swapping out your $59 Spark-O-Matic radio.
We all want the latest technology and get POd when the old becomes obsolete. Do you still have those 8-Track tapes? If there was a cheap plug in I think they would have done it.
That's a bummer. When I bought the car it was certified pre-owned and they did not disclose the fact that I could not use Genesis Connected Services. It will be the same as what you had.
There's a better solution that is $40 a year instead of $200 a year. That's a bummer. When I bought the car it was certified pre-owned and they did not disclose the fact that I could not use Genesis Connected Services.
It is easy to second guess in 2024 the decisions made in 2014. Yes, that 2018 product was finalized typically 3 to 4 years ahead. I would agree that a working modem is very desirable, but essential is a stretch. Millions of car work just fine without them over the past 100 years.Having a working modem in a modern car is not the equivalent of a tape deck not working. It is an essential element. The current Genesis cars, at least mine, have LTE but not 5. I hope that Genesis has recognized that now and designed the current head units to allow for chip replacement.
Yeah... It was a misstep - but I had the Connected Services for a while and it didn't really work that great anyway. In my experience, things like the remote start had a 25-35% failure rate even if there was good cell coverage...It is easy to second guess in 2024 the decisions made in 2014.
