  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Has anyone put a 2G winged badge on a 1G Genesis Sedan?

Has anyone tried using a second generation Genesis winged badge on a first generation Genesis Sedan trunk? The second generation is a little bigger so I'm curious to see what it would look like...

I saw one on a traded-in Genesis in my dealer's lot. The 1st gen. Gen looked just terrible with the newest version of the wings on the trunk. The symmetry was off. I say let each generation keep its own unique character.

I had one on my '11 genesis; It looked better (to me) than the original kinda small one. I just traded for a beautiful '13 and just ordered the later wing to put on, weather permitting. Sorry, but no photos.

I guess it's just a matter of personal taste. I can't see how it would look so bad - but I'm going to copy and paste one onto a first generation Genesis Sedan and see how it looks...

That's what I'm thinking. I really don't care for that first generation set of wings. It looks cheap, in my personal opinion...

Well thank you very much! That answers my question. I don't need to do a copy and paste now. I like it...

Looks good above but I think the 1st gen looks nicer and much less like a Chrysler.

And you're definitely not alone. I've heard that before...

Those of us that have 1st generation wings on our 1st generation trunk often have wings elsewhere on the car. I'm not interested in changing the rest of the logos (wheels, steering wheel). Besides, who puts an '89 Thunderbird badge on a '57 T-Bird? The '09-'14 Genesis is a classic.

Just received the 2017 badges from Korea, tabs removed, installation a pics to come, the silver inlay matches my car perfectly.

Installed 2017 badging on 2013. Happy accident that the inlay of the emblem matches the car color.

Thank you. It looks perfect on the back but I'm a little on the fence about the front. I might have raised it up a little higher on the hood. Not sure... But the rear looks great to me...

After my 2 friends thought I bought a Chrysler, I'm going to install a G1 hood wing on the rear of my G2. I just need warmer weather. The hood wing looks to be a perfect fit with not too much curve. The G1 hood wing is also bigger and closer to the larger size of the 2015 wing. But most of all, I prefer the V look of the wing vs the flatter look on the 2015 G2 and G1 trunk emblem.

So has anyone tried to take a 2nd gen hood badge and put on rear of 1st gen....i ask because my 2014 has the H...i like the satin 2nd gen badge better personally, and the 2nd gen rear badge i bought needs altering or return due distance of tabs being different on badges. However i noticed the front 2nd gen badge tabs look A LOT closer to the H tabs than the 2nd gen rear badge tabs...are u guys following? Lol and can someone post a pic of 2nd gen badge on rear of 1st gen sedan...or did i miss someone post that?

Nevermind i see someone did post that pic....like in VERY beginning haha

You would have to alter either badge due to alignment pins. I tried the front badge on the rear of mine first, thinking the same thing you were, but no joy, tabs have to be removed for front or rear installation.

Last question b4 i give up....can g80 wings front or rear fit on 1st gen trunk without tab removal? I think it would look nice on white 1st gen...agree or disagree?
