We have a 2011 Genesis 3.8 with the Touch Screen Navigation. The Navigation has been frozen for several years and we can not use it. Also multiple times a day when I start the car the screen display freezes on the GENESIS logo. Then I have no use of the back up camera, no bluetooth for my cell, can not view the radio channels, etc. I have to turn the car off and on multiple times until the screen will finally boot and not freeze. Has anyone successfully put in an aftermarket Apple CarPlay Head Unit Stereo in their 2011-2013 Genesis that has the touch screen navigation and back up camera?

I have the android/carplay in my Genesis. Backup camera too. Works nice. I think its better than the navi which is more expensive. Its has many different navigation apps. You tube/Google/ Tv etc. Brings the 1generation genny up to date with current genesis. maximo

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Thank you so much for sharing! What year is your Genesis? Do you happen to have a link to where you bought your android/carplay or any info on what specific model it is?

Aloha, danna2424, My Genny is a 2013 3.8
There are a few different versions available at aliexpress. Just type in Rohen Genesis android. Here also is the link below:

The second link is the newest version. FYI, It took about a week or at the most two weeks to arrived. Also I purchased the unit with the most gig and memory at the time. maximo

So basically, you bought a unit and installed it yourself? How difficult is it?

Is this new unit supposed to replace the OEM screen that's completely dead and won't be part of the system anymore, right?

My 2012 Genny 3.8's screen seemingly dead, not displaying anything/completely gray out. I cannot use anything that requires visuals. Only use Radio with seek function.

This seems to affect the CD playing also. The CD would play for 15 seconds, the power out, power up play for another 15 seconds, repeat.

I'm looking for a solution. Is this aftermarket unit for this? Thanks

Recommend you go to a local car audio shop for advice.

Aloha user0209, To answer your questions. The local car stereo shop installed it for me. Instructions are in Chinese so I couldn't understand them. Also the unit is plug and play so it's pretty straightforward, although the stereo shop did say they needed to use a different connector for one part of the install. This unit will replace your stereo/screen and harness setup that overlays on the dash. It comes with everything. The screen that you have that is dark, is much smaller. Not sure if your Genesis has navigation or not. My 3.8 didn't, so not sure if control will be lost with new stereo. Also, with this unit you will lose your CD function. It took me about 3 hrs. to get over it. lol. But it also comes with usb in which you can install a DVD player in your glovebox or under it, if you like. The learning curb is average using the android/Carplay unit.

Your steering wheel function work. Vol/rewind/fast forward etc.

More pros then cons for sure. The way they put the stereo unit together for Genesis makes it look oem. Maximo

Thank you, good sir for sharing. It seems like this is the exact thing that I'm looking for.

I have looked all the links that you posted earlier and more, and to be honest I was overwhelmed by too many products and descriptions. Plus, the long time shipping!

Did you have to make the purchase yourself from the Chinese maker and then brought the product to a stereo shop?

I'm really hoping that I'll find a good stereo shop where they already have everything and do everything for me, even if I have to pay some extra money for it. I'm going to find a shop this weekend in Southern CA.

Again, thanks.

user0209, Yes I purchased the product myself through Aliexpress. From the Chinese company. you can reach out to them by email with any questions before purchase. I have had my unit over a year and a half. As to all the choices. So what I'm thinking, is that the company just changes names. In fact I maybe wrong but I think all those listing on the website maybe from the same company. Just with different names. Over a year ago, there was just one company offering this product. Now 10 plus...
There should be plenty of stereo shop that can handle this project in your area. You may have to purchase the backup camera from Aliexpress, to use with this unit. Not sure if your current will work, if your Genesis has it. Although, your stereo shop may be able to tap into it.
When I purchased my unit they offered DHS shipping. It took two weeks at the most. To get to Hawaii. Tracking was good and up to date. Any questions i'll be around. maximo

I went to a shop as planned. The shop guy told me he would have to order a kit for my car, approx $100, but won't be avail until next week. And then I could choose one screen unit from his giant stack of units.

$280 (more) for a unit that has almost everything except CarPlay/AndroidAudio, or $380 for one with them features.

At end of conversation he threw in a sale of backup camera for an additional $100 which I like too. LOL.

He said installation is "free" when customers buy products here. I'll likely go with a carplay unit.

I like everything though I only enjoy musics from variety of sources (usb, blue tooth, etc).

To be honest I think it'd awesome if everything would last years in usage. That's a boat load of stuff/features for a few hundred bucks.

But this is all Chinese made stuff and my experience's been hit or miss with them.

But I guess it's fun. All the sudden you get GPS, music, youtube, weather, DVD, so many craps in the car to enjoy. We're spoiled today :) :)

Hello Maximo,

May I ask you something?

So, each stereo unit has its own dash kit? There's no universal dash kit?

The shop that I went to said they couldn't find a dash kit for my car. He only found one for the coupe car!!!

I suppose the current OEM dash interface cannot be used. There has to be a universal kit with the universal spec that fits most stereo unit, which the shop cannot find (yet).

All this crap is a bit confusing to me.

User0209, Aloha, Your right, each stereo unit comes with it own dash kit. I do not think its a universal kit. I'm not sure outside of china if any other stereo shop (or country) has went through the effort to make one for the sedan. I guess you could use the OEM dash interface if you were a handy man of sorts. I have seen on this website different options a few members have used. Its didn't look oem to me outside of the aftermarket unavi setup. maximo

Do you think you can supply me with the trim kit or kit that you had installed in your car with the apple carplay head unit. I have been looking for a trim kit and I can't seem to find one anywhere. I would much prefer to have an actual head unit as opposed to an android device.... no offense. Just afraid the android OS will be out of date in a year and Ill have to do everything over again.

To my knowledge that is correct. I hope this helps. maximo

Hello, is the CarPlay wireless? Also does it have regular AM/FM? Thanks.

I think you're mistaken about my posts. I've gone to several shops but none had what was needed. After several weeks I gave up.

The only route i know at this point is to order a kit & head unit from a Chinese website using our Visa or Mastercard, posted by some person up in this thread. I do not know the quality nor any guarantee that a local US shop can install it. If they cannot install it, we'll be set back 500 usd.

In the mean time I have to listen to 1 FM station from a broken oem Nav/CD/head unit (whatever that thing's called).

Hi, everyone. I have a 2009 4.6 Sedan. I recently bought the Seicane version and have had some issues.
Aftermarket Radio for 2008 2009-2013 Hyundai Genesis LHD Android auot GPS Navigation System Bluetooth Touchscreen Carplay this is the newest one --my unit has 128G ROM

The head unit is supposed to have the controls for the hearting and A/C but the temperature control doesn't work and I have been on their tech support chat for months, so not happy.

Also have the "buffering" issue with wireless carplay. Every few minutes the volume goes down significantly as if there is a buffer somewhere, then it comes back. Very annoying - happens irrespective if I have downloaded music or am listening to radio with the Sirius App through my iPhone or listening to podcasts through the podcast app.

I had a local car stereo guy install it and am neutral about that. I have paid about $500 for the unit (I bought the most memory and best equipped unit), and the store charged me north of $800 for the installation. He also installed a wolfbox unit on the mirror for my cameras and it gives me wide angle views on both sides.
