  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Got a call from Ken Flanagan at Ed Voyles Hyundai last Wednesday; he expected to receive an Equus Ultimate Edition, in the configuration in which I had expressed interest, on Thursday 12/9 or Friday 12/10. Never heard back from him, so I called on Tuesday 12/14 and it turned out that the vehicle was still in port in Brunswick, GA, and had not begun moving yet. As of today, 12/18, still no Equus at the Marietta, GA dealership.

Has anyone seen an Equus "in the wild" yet? Any reports of sales thus far?

I saw two dealers with one each. Orlando & St. Augustine Florida. Both are list price $58900.00

The Equus is not sold around Greenville, SC. The dealer I got my Genesis from originally was going to sell it but is not as of yet decided and is not on the Hyundai website list of Equus dealers. Since he was also a Lincoln/Mercury dealer and he lost Mercury it would have been my guess that he will eventually sell the Equus. There are 2 dealers each in Charlotte and Atlanta but for me that is too far for any service needs. I saw one at the Charlotte auto show and it very nice looking. It happened to be parked near a LS460 Lexus and the $20k price difference was not evident to me. Of course down at the BMW exhibit there was a 328i convertible with a $62k list, definitely way over priced.

My dealer just got their first Equus this past week. It is a Signature model in Platinum Metallic....MSRP $58,900 but they are asking $60,296!

My dad told me last night that one of the cardiac docs he works with in Hall County just got an Equus (dad liked it a lot...), so there must be a few floating around here locally.

Hyundai of Kirkland in WA has one. I meant to get there on Sunday, but never made it there.

Liberty Hyundai in Ramsey, NJ has a black, basic model on the lot ready to be delivered. Could have bought it today.

Some comments:
rear headoom is very tight
rear hvac/audio controls in armrest - yup passengers can change your choice
Sun shades on side rear windows in addition to rear windshield
Rear seats power adjustable
a bit more leg room than the Genesis
Does not appear as wide as a S Class Merc of LS Lexus
There is a suspension setting switch on center console
Overall interior is similar but not exactly the same as Genesis, especially controls
Looks richer
TRunk looks identical to Genesis

. . . .too far for any service needs? Aren't the guts of the Equus the same as the Genesis? Any dealer that sells and services the Genesis should be able to service the Equus. If something were to occur that they couldn't fix, then that would be another issue all together! Uh, 50-60K! ;)

I hope they sell. This Ebay seller probably feels that there will be a bidding frenzy and he may get alot more than the list price. I am perfectly happy with the Signature version of the Equus. I do not see a need to move up to the Ultimate trim level. I will wait a few years to see if I can get a good lease deal on one.

I noticed you have a 2010 Lexus IS350C? Nice car huh? I have a 2010 IS250 and I love it!! I cannot see replacing my Lexus for the Equus but the Equus would make a nice edition to my household!

I hear you. I keep looking at the Equus, but can't make my mind up on when to pull the trigger, if at all. And if I do, it will be at the entry level model. I am perfectly content now with my '09 Genesis. I have been in that for 2 years now. I need to see, sit, and drive an Equus, as well as let some of the hype die down first. Also keeping an eye on the Lexus LS. That has always been my dream car. We'll see.

As for the IS, that is the wifes car. She gets 95% of the seat time. I get to wash it and put gas in it every now and then. Came out of an '06 SC430. The prestige of that car was nice. But it was a little dated. The IS has the bells and whistles. She loves it. And if she loves it, so do I! ;)

You do not see to many of the ISC around and I love the unique tail light signature of the LED pipes at night from the IS coupe. Red Mica with the Ecru leather is stunning.

No you don't. I really like the look with the top down. We were going to go with the G37 convertible, but got a great deal on the IS-C. An elderly couple traded in an ES for the IS-C and didn't like it. So they traded it in for another ES. So we got it pre-owned with only 1K miles on it at a steal. Someone else took the hit on depreciation.

Nothing wrong with someone else taking a hit on depreciation!!! I traded in my 2008 Crossfire with 750 miles and they gave me a great deal on it as a trade. The ISC looks stunning with the top up as well especially from the rear as it has a formal backlight window. Hard to believe the ES is one of Lexus best sellers and it is front-wheel drive!

Visited the Kirkland Hyundai today. They had two Equus. One Ultimate and the other Signature. The Signature was sold and all wrapped up in a cover. The salesman allowed me to peek in. Very nice.

I was able to sit in the Ultimate which was on the showroom floor. NICE ! Seems to be the same car as the Genesis. A bit longer, but the same in width. Very upscale from the Genesis.

I was not able to drive it, but it seems to me IMHO that the Genesis is more "sexy" than the Equus. The Genesis has more curves in all the right places.... LOL. Not sure Im ready to shell out 60K for this. Especially when the 2012 Genesis 5.0 V8 8spd with updated looks will be out soon.

Happy Holidays everyone !!!

Seattle Genesis

Yeah, I'll admit that this is another factor that makes me less convinced that the Equus is the right vehicle for me currently. We already know there's a better Equus with more power coming soon--and now, before the Equus is established in the market, we learn that an upgraded Genesis is coming in just a few months that will have a better engine than the far-more-expensive Equus!

Makes you wonder if marketing is fully considering the ramifications of this sort of announcement timing...
