  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I was wondering if anyone has test driven a 2011 Genesis sedan in comparison to a 2010. I'd like to find out if they think there is any change in suspension? Any other changes noted?

Mark888, where are You????

I am right here.

For 2011 Hyundai has reverted back to the 2009 suspension, because no one could tell the difference between 2009 and 2010, and they had a lot of 2009 components left over so they thought they would use them up.

I heard that the 2011 v8 has 385 hp instead of 375 and that they made changes to the navigation system.

Seems like a sound business decision. Who's gonna notice??

I believe that the 10 hp increase was made mid-2010 model year.

When you say navigation system changes, do you mean software or hardware? If it is software, I assume they could load that into a 2010 nav (maybe 2009).

No big changes just a few minor tweaks.

4.6 horsepower from 375 to 385.
Navigation system upgrade on Tech models (next generation with performance enhancements)

Not sure on whether it's software or hardware.
Pretty sure it's software.

Someone previously posted that the 10 HP increase for the 4.6L was a mid-year 2010 change. The Hyundai website lists the following specs for the 4.6 engine on the 2010 model (USA):

385 @ 6500 / 378 @ 6500 (Premium fuel/Regular fuel)

Hmm...makes me wonder if they removed the secondary cats, the foam filter and the magnetic flap from the airbox and added a throttle body spacer. HA!:p

I took my 2010 4.6 into the dealer today to have the tilt steering fixed and the service "loaner" was a base 2011 3.8 with 175 miles on the clock. As far as I can tell there is NO difference between the 2010 and the 2011 in int. and ext. trim or in features.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I brought my 2010 V-8 in today for some warranty work and requested a 2011 to compare. Driving it around, I can assure you that there have been no additional suspension upgrades done. In fact my car rode noticeably smoother. I suspect the main reason was due to the fact that I run 30psi and the tester had 33psi. In addition, my suspension is broken in. Cosmetically, there has been a change to the airdam below the grille. I don't really see it as better or worse, just different. Also, I noticed that the Navi screen has been updated and looks different tham mine. Other than that, no difference. Rear end is the same as 2010.

I traded my 2009 Genesis for a 2011.

There have been a few tweeks to the Nav system-map updating and some added stuff...like my phone book on my phone loads up, the volume of the radio goes up as you speed up (a function that can be turned off or on), I can shuffle my ipod (according to owners manual-haven't tried it yet). In reading the manual, it also seems like it has more voice command options than the 2009.

The change to the front end is for the smart cruise control sensors-haven't tried that yet either.

It has an "auto-hold" feature and an electronic parking break-not sure of the usefulness of that-maybe if you living somewhere hilly...maybe someone can clue me in.

As for comparing the ride-my old Genny was a V-6 and this one is a V-8 so it isn't an outright comparison...17 inch to 18 inch wheels...I also needed new tires. My husband took the car to get new tires and the new tires came with a new car. It seems to ride better to me, but new tires always ride better.;)

The auto hold button is for when your at a stop light and you hold the brakes.
Instead of having to switch it into park the car stays on auto hold until you press the gas.
Very useful feature sometimes.

Congrats! I'll be doing the same thing in 3 months if I don't go the Equus route. Can't wait!

Thanks!

I was told by salesperson that the dealerships were given some conditions to meet if they wanted to be able to get the Equus.

They had to have a separate showroom and it should display the Equus and the Genesis.
He said the Equus should come in the fall. As to if this is true, don't know-just sayin' what he told me.

The Auto-Hold feature seems to be disabled in my 2011 every time I switch off the car. Does anyone know if this Auto-Hold feature can be enabled by default and is on every time you start the car?

This has been mentioned several times before, and some dealers have already started modifying their showrooms.

Because of the more compliant air suspension in the Equus, you are not eligible to purchase one. In addition, if you get a new Genesis, you will be required to have the shocks, springs, and stabilizer bar swapped with your 2009 model.
