Morning! Well, 'afternoon, really.
Making my first appearance on Genesis Owners, though I've been checking posts out here and there as a guest for a while now. I bought an 09 3.8 sedan w/Tech back in December, and have been loving every minute of driving it.
"The Black Car," as it has come to be known, thanks to the wit and whimsy of my 5 year old son's mind, has somehow achieved both daily driver AND "winter beater" status, thanks to the similar characteristics of my 34 year old mind. Ya see, I played with my 4Runner a little too much, and just like Grandma said... it got stuck that way. Big/heavy/wide tires, lift kit, and chompy brakes do not, a capable winter vehicle, make. So what started off as the economical "grown up" vehicle for a nice, smooth freeway commute to work, ended up being the only thing I have that doesn't act like a 14 year old boy in a bikini store (it tries to rear-end everything it sees).
I'm currently enjoying the pursuit of extended warranty claims, chasing one front bumper sensor after another, because Allstate didn't feel like saving on labor that day (sure, the diagnostics showed that all 4 had previously malfunctioned, but why pay to replace three that won't fail for you on demand?), and also chasing the head unit crazy volume fluctuation issue, because again... the owner and the dealership's word just aren't enough to go on.
Despite the few issues mentioned above, I've been an advocate for the Equus/Genesis platforms since we borrowed my wife's uncle's Equus for a week in 2012. He was at an older, wiser, and much... money-er.... state in life, and I, much akin to the great Ricky Bobby, just wanted to go fast. People thought I was crazy for singing the praises of a Hyundai; any time car discussions came up, it was my badge of honor. I was... THAT guy. Several years later, here I am amidst the growing number of enthusiasts who see the light.
Hopefully we have some fun together. I love enthusiast forums, and have been looking for one that really speaks to me, as I've grown up and out of the Acura Legend scene, and crashed my way out of the streetfighter motorcycle scene. The 4wd world is fun, but sometimes you just want to do things besides make it bigger, louder, slower, and more broken'er (though I do love those things as well, everything requires at least a little counterbalance in life, amiright?).
Looking forward to sharing what I learn, and learning what you share.
