  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

HD Radio Very Disappointing

Took another drive in the Genny last night - this time at night and in a different direction (away from the towers actually) and had much more positive results.

Both 94.5 and 99.9 HD-2's were on the air and both were playing what they advertised. The quality of their music wasn't any different than what is played on their main signals but it wasn't any worse either and the lack of commercials was nice.

My trip carried me eastward from the Loop 101 along the Loop 202 out about ten miles or so and there were no noticeable drop-outs coming or going. So I'm not sure if it was the area I was in that had better propagation or perhaps both stations were having trouble the last time I tried picking them up.

At any rate, it appears it was not the car or its antenna system malfunctioning last time.

Testing continues.....

Just picked up my 2013 White Genesis Sedan R Spec. After an hour in the parking lot with the salesman and general manager, we concluded that "6 disc changer" as shown on the sticker from the manufacturer was, in fact, a single disc player. Does anyone know if this is standard issue? I should find out more tomorrow.

ditto here: white 2013 rspec. my window sticker says 6 disc changer. Got a voicemail from my salesman yesterday, they are sending a replacement window sticker to me, something to do with the CD player. Heheheh I'm sure its gonna be the same issue.

Honestly, I also cannot discern the difference between HD radio and analog FM. Maybe its my tinnitis. LoL. The only think I like better about HD Radio is that I can see what's being played, etc akin to Sirius XM, in regard to the display.

How/where do you get this info to display??

Since some of you may not be aware, the 6-disc player can handle regular CD's and also audio-DVD's but NOT DVD-audio.

If you would like to put lots and lots of music on your DVD media you can either load so many MP3's formatted discs that it would take forever to play all tracks or, like me, you can make audio-DVD's with full, uncompressed WAV files to take advantage of the excellent Lexicon audio system.

To make your own audio-DVD's first rip source tracks from your CD's/DVD's using any available ripper software. I use CDex but there are many others.

Then download and use a free formatter that will turn the extracted tracks into DVD files. I use Apollo Audio DVD Creator from this site:
http://www.tomsguide.com/us/download/Creator-Audio-Apollo,0301-4482.html

Using a program like DVD Shrink (freebie) to format the files into DVD format (yes, the same format as your video DVD's). Then burn the generated ISO to disc.

Your disc will now be read as a video DVD in your Genny and can even display video on the nav screen so long as your car is in 'Park'. Audio will continue to play once the car is moving but no video will be displayed.

Congratulations! You have just increased your audio file capability from 700MB per disc to 4.7GB.

This is great info. Just picked up my 2013 Rspec yesterday and was wondering about the audio possibilities. This is helpful.

I don't know how many 2013's they sold with fraudulent monroney stickers on them, but according to the dealer in Atlanta, I was the first to discover the problem. They issued a company-wide email notifying the dealers to reprint the labels. They initially offered to send me a corrected label. Today, they called me and offered to reimburse me $500 for the inconvenience. This is my third Genny. I love the Lexicon. I had a black on black 2012 with a six disc player while I was waiting for the 2013 white to come out. I would have never ordered the 2013 had they accurately represented that the car would only have a single disc player. I will update as things develop.

My 2009 Tech plays DVD-Audio... is that something they changed in the later years?

I'm just going by what they say in the owners manual. I do not own any DVD-Audio disc's to test the system.

I think that's just a bad Korean-English translation. I'm pretty sure even the base audio system can play DVD-Audio discs.

I have not been able to find the initial place where I read the difference between DVD-Audio and audio DVD but below is a write up by an outside source that says:

In addition to CD, you can also play your antique collection of DVD-Audio discs.

So you must be correct. As I said, I have no DVD-Audio discs so can't vouch for the accuracy of that statement.

I have a question. I have a 2013 Genesis sedan with Tech Pkg. When I check the HD box on the menu I get music from the current station. When I change to xm and go back to ANY am or fm stations I get absolutely no sound (but do from xm).
The dealer says there isn't much difference anyways so leave the box unchecked. I don't buy it. I spent too much on the car for an answer like that.
Does anyone else have the same problem or heard of it?
