  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Has anyone noticed that Genesis states in their literature that HDA 2 is a feature that is provided on their vehicle I think with the exception of the G70, but I have not seen any Genesis 2024 vehicle stickers with HDA 2 listed not he sticker. I ask because we have a lease coming up for one of our vehicles, but I’ll be damned if I am going to by a new Genesis that doesn’t at least offer HDA2 or god forbid we actually get HDA3 as it ihas been anecdotally noted in some South Korean vehicles as being offered on their versions of the G80/G90/GV80, although i have yet to see this confirmed anywhere.

Any onsite from others is appreciated. I know there were some chip issues during the pandemic, but if a Kia Telluride, EV6 EV9 are being offered with HDA2, tGenesis vehicles should damn well be providing it on their vehicles.

'splain please HDA2 vs HDA1 vs HDA3... I'm all confused. I seem to recall hearing the GV70 3.5TT we bought a week ago has HDA2

Assuming that HDA = Highway Driving Assistance.. ours follows lanes, accelerates and decelerates for corners based on GPS settings, stops for stopped cars in front, but has no idea about STOP signs or traffic lights.

I know sometime in 22 or 23 due to the chip shortage, they stopped putting this in the cars. They put an addendum on the sticker and gave a credit for not having it. I would assume that they started putting this back in, but maybe not. I would just call the dealer and ask for a salesman and he can tell you.

You are correct that for 2022 and 2023 they stopped installing on vehicles due to the chip shortage, however for 2023 HDA2 reappeared on G90s. But even the 2024 G90s don't have HDA2 on the window sticker.

HDA 2 offered some additional AI that made it far more comfortable to use and even does lane changing. HDA is just smart cruise control. HDA3 is supposed to add additional AI features that give the vehicle same additional autonomy I believe they were going to change it to Highway Drive Pilot, but I think it has been withheld for now.

My recently purchased GV70 does lane-changes.. so I'm guessing it has HDA-2. It's a 2024..

The important part of HDA2 is it helps avoid getting t-boned at intersections.

How does it do that? I can see how it avoids t-boning someone else at an intersection (it warns against cross-traffic) - but how does it prevent someone else from t-boning you?

Especially since it is HIGHWAY Drive Assist so there are no intersections. There are two alleged advantages of HDA2 vs. HDA: (1) automated highway lane changing; and (2) improved lane centering. The latter is nice although HDA on my GV60P seems to work pretty well except in extreme turns. I could not care less about lane changing.

I used land changing about three times since I had the car just to scare my wife. She hates anything automated and thinks it will kill us. She has never used the cruise control in her car.

My wife rather enjoyed it - and has told all her friends about it, but like cruise control - will never use it. She usually shudders and I can hear the auxiliary brake pedal (the imaginary one in the passenger's footwell) being used the first time I let the car brake itself in traffic when using CC.. I absolutely know she would not be able to not press the brake if she was driving and traffic stopped.

This older thread explains it some: HDA2 VS HDA

I think it is the junction crossing piece. See "these features no longer available" slide.

I posted this in another thread about headlights so apology if you've seen it - somehow I think the current model GV70 has all the needed hardware for HDA3 - and probably the software - but it needs to be enabled or downloaded:
