If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I know this has been from what I can see on several threads as a semi discussion. I was wondering this. I am looking at buying a 2022 G80 Sport Prestige with the HDA not the HDA2. It says on there that the following features are not present:
HDA replaces HDA2
Forward collision avoidance assist
Lane change oncoming
lane change side
junction crossing
evasive steering assist.

It says it has LFA and LKA which are some features I wanted to ensure I had. Question is people whom have had both is there a HUGE difference between the two of them and what about when you let go of the steering wheel does it drive by itself and do a good job keeping lane. I dont care about changing lane by itself prob will not use that. The learning cruise control would be nice but not a deal breaker. Just want to know if anyone has experience in both and can tell me the difference. Thank you.

This is what you got with HDA.

And HDA II.

Then compare.

From looking at the video the only difference that I notice is HDA2 has a different display and perhaps a few more alerts.

Found this in the sales document. Honestly, I'm pretty disappointed.

I agree. I spoke to the salesman this weekend and he advised me that right now they know of NO vehicles that in 2022 or 2023 that are going to be getting HDA2. He also said that most of those features are geared toward the older persons not people that are younger and have better reaction times. Sad that is how Genesis is thinking. On top of that I have waited since last Sep for my car and I am only gladly paying sticker price so far not a market adjustment. Then I go to look at my car out on the lot and WTH now the grass people slung rocks and its damaged so they have to get it painted. This Genesis thing is wild. He told me I can wait till next year to get one since if I refuse the order I can order a new one and be put at the bottom of the list again.
The thing is that the safety features were a big selling point for me.

Sorry to hear this, I would pass on this car as I would not be happy that the car was damaged and has to have paint work. I do not care what they tell no body shop can perfectly match the factory paint job. The lawn people should have been more careful.
If the dealership really wanted to under the circumstances they could get you another car faster then what they might be saying and rightfully they should.

Good Luck

Link below is a pretty exhaustive explanation of all the safety, Forward Collision Assist and Highway Driving Assist functions Hyundai/Genesis offers on their vehicles. New Genesis models had HDA2/FCA2 and due to chip storage have reverted to HDA1 and FCA1. Pretty significant changes, specially to the FCA safety features

What did you decide on this car? The advice the sales person gave you on the HDA feature may have been his opinion, but not anything that Genesis as stated. An older person might have an issue using the HDA feature period.
As I stated I would pass on the car because of the damage and I would pass on the dealership because under the circumstances the dealership should have done everything in its power to get another car for you ASAP if you desired to purchase the car.
Above all you should get what you want as nothing worse then purchasing a car and later wishing you had purchased a car with the features you desired.
I just tried out the HDA feature a few days ago and it is nice. Not having HDA 2 is not an issue for me.

Good Luck!

I had my first long trip, 100 miles, on yesterday, I have no complaints about anything.
I used HDA for the first time and it did what it was supposed to do, but being a control freak it took me awhile to get use to it.
There were times when the car would move closer to the center line and if a car going in the opposite direction was also close to the center line it would seem to close for comfort. I like the feature and I am quite certain with a little more use I will feel a little more comfortable using it.
HDA II would not be of any interest to me, not that I do not think it’s a good feature, but as a control freak I don’t think my heart could take to much more😂
I have owned a few high end cars and I have got to say the 2021-2022 G80 has not disappointed me at all.
If you are not an aggressive driver and not looking for race car performance IMO the 2.5T packs more then enough power.
There is a very slight growl on acceleration, but once up to speed it fades out in a matter of seconds, but for the most part the engine is relatively quiet. The V6 in my 2019 Cadillac XTS was louder on acceleration. On the open highway I find the G80 to be a dream to drive.
On rough roads due to the suspension set up you may get a little more feed back, but I find the seats to be so comfortable to where it does not bother me.
I have gone over railroad crossings and have been surprised as to how well the car handled them as I expected more feed back then what I got.
The AC was spot on and though I question the Lexicon in my 2022 compared to my 2021 I still enjoyed listening to it.

As per matching paint,,,,,
Body shop at my local Buick/GMC Dealer does FANTASTIC paint work. They have one tech who only does painting. The Body Shop Manager can also do painting.
1. I had some slight front and left fender damage to my Buick. Pearl White. Paint matched PERFECT.
2. Also had them repaint the hood and front of my former 2018 Kia Cadenza. Again, paint matched PERFECT.

Not only perfect to the naked eye, but also when looking through Polarized glasses.

Might as well mention the name of the shop since you seem to have found a gem for Florida or New Mexico or New York

Must be an exceptional body shop as I have yet to see a body shop that can perfectly match a factory paint job.

A friend of mine with a Mercedes told me about them. Did a great job fixing damage and repainting damaged area.

I had a small accident with my Buick. Not only did they replace and repaint the front bumper cover. They also replaced and repainted the left front fender.
What amazed me most was that the bolts holding fender in place looks completely original. Painted, not unpainted like most fender replacements. (When bolts unpainted, you always know fender was replaced).

My former Cadenza had stone chips on hood and front bumper cover. Repainted PERFECT.

Body Shop Manager Karl will “get dirty” in shop when he must. He will also paint when he has to as shop is very busy and last I heard, they were six weeks behind. (Everyone driving like the “crazy’s” around here In Florida so lots of accidents.)
Karl can do everything.

If I would pass on this car the following would have happened. I will NOT get my car I ordered cause the HDA2 they cut out and put me down for a credit of 200 dollars even though I got the car ordered in September. The other issue is that I found 1 car with HDA2 and they want a 17 percent mark up. Which in my mind is nuts.
The paint came out okay but it is what it is. They dropped the car down by about 4000 but I am sure they made it up someplace. So it looked like on paper that I saved money.
The car that I ordered same color but only thing missing is HDA2 is now not due in till mid august. I also seen the 2023 listed on the wall that they have coming in for customers and the prices went up by over 2000 dollars some even more. Now the dealership that I am getting this car from is also putting on another 2000 dollars so that is 4000 grand up. What in the world.. so I got it and well see.

I do have 1 question that I just discovered. On my ford taurus SHO i had intermittent whipers which came on every 30 seconds or so on this car it only has auto or am I missing something.

Other than that the sport and sport plus is nice when you need to kick it up.. but I like driving in the comfort mode. I have the custom setting set the way I like it and its were I have it most of the time.

That wiper 30 sec delay does not seem to be there as I have also notice this. I just raise the wiper arm up for a quick swipe when there is just a light mist of rain on the windshield.

Yeah thats what I do. Just guess always thought that every car had that. THANK YOU

I thought I had it on my 2021 G80, but I might be wrong. Genesis is not alone when it comes to doing things that can be questionable. I will not get into the questionable and controversial way in which the Walk Away Lock Feature operated on my 2021 and now it appears that it was dropped on the 2022. There is no mention of it at all in the owners manual.

It’s raining today so I checked the wiper settings again. I think I may have found what you were looking for.
On the wiper stalk look for Auto, right below that you will see Hi and Lo, pull the black switch down past Auto to either one of those and see if that gives you what you are looking for. This is what I was referring too when I stated that I had it on my 2021, but either missed it or forgot how it worked on my 2022.
