  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I noticed my DRL on the driver side was pointing to high on my garage door. Not a big deal so I waiting until next service appointment to ask Hyundai to level the head lights. They said that they adjusted them. The DRLs/high beams were spot on, but the low beams were off. I waited until the next service apt and this was my number one request to fix. They worked on it all day and told me that they were able to adjust the driver low beam up a bit, but the passenger side low beam would not adjust and ordered a new light assembly.

Here's a pic of the problem. Keep in mind the DRLs and High Beams are spot on and level with each other.

So they should look like one flat line and not have any steps to them? If that is the case then I too have headlights that are in need of adjusting. Thx for the pic and info.

Does your car have the AFLS feature? Seems to me that if they adjusted one headlamp assy to be level with the other for the sake of the DRL, they may have thrown off the calibration of the AFLS, and they'd need to perform a recalibration procedure for that. Just a thought.

^ That would be auto-leveling that is off, not AFLS ;)

Do these cars have autolevel without having AFLS? I suppose I assumed it was all the same system. But yeah, autolevel might need recalibration if the headlamp assy is "moved".

The auto-leveling in calibrated by the rear axle load sensor. The adaptive is done by steering wheel sensor and speed sensor. They are two different systems all together.

my Mercedes, Genesis and previous Acura all have xeon lights, all stepped down and they are suppose to step down to the left to avoid blinding on-coming vehilces.

The left headlight is always set to point a bit lower than the right. It's a safety issue for oncoming traffic.

This is 100% inaccurate for HID projectors. If you don't believe me, head on over to HIDplanet.com and search there.

The "step" in the projector cut-off takes care of the low left side issue

My car does have AFLS (Adaptive Front Lighting System). I sure hope that they tried to initialize the AFLS system as it says to do in the factory manual. They did tell me that they were on the phone with Hyundai most of the day. In the factory manual it does not say how to level the AFLS low beams.
