  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Does anyone have directions on how to remove the headlight assembly from a Hyundai Genesis 2015. I need to replace the turn signal bulb socket

You actually dont need to remove the headlight assembly to change out the bulbs, just someone with small enough hands. I think you need to remove the bumper cover to take out the headlight assemblies.

Yep, tiny slim hands and some patience and you can replace bulbs fairly easily. Just need to pop off the big plastic engine cover to make it easier. Driver side is super easy but passenger one is a real tight fit.

Even the turn signal / drl socket itself can be replaced or re-pinned without removing the headlamp assembly ( if the socket is fried) . There are a few posts here somewhere with diy pictures of the socket replacement.

I know how to replace the bulbs. The issue I'm having is they keep going out. Based on what I read from another forum it's something Hyundai did with have the DRL and turn signal on the same socket. Because of that my bulb sockets are corroded. I found video on you tube that shows how to change out the socket in the light assembly. But you have to remove the lights to do it.

I will look for that thank you

If you notice in the pic above, the sockets are removable with the plug that is 4" or so behind it. Buy some LEDs to replace your stock bulbs with - several threads here that detail the swap. The only thing you might have to do is re-pin one of the plugs to make the LED's polarity correct. I've been running LEDs for about 3 years now - had to re-pin both of my plugs though.

Instead of 're-pinning' I simply reversed wires. A little tight but that (obviously) works the same.

How do I re-pin the plugs.?

Very Carefully! You pull one pin out at a time, then reinsert in the socket. In my case, I simply cut the wires, swapped them with but connectors and carefully reinserted into the fixture.

Each wire is held in by a thin brass clip in the plug. You just need to release the clip which is part of the plug by slipping something narrow beside the wire in the plug to release it. I filed a nail down enough to be able to achieve this. Then you just swap them in the holes. Pretty easy - just takes time. OR you can just cut the wires and swap. Not the best (in my opinion) but works.

Ok wow that seems a lot easier than taking out the whole headlight assembly. Thanks for the tip
