  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Recently purchsed a CPO car and am trying to go over it before the 60k warranty flies by.

Noticed moisture in the corners of both headlights tonight.

Hasn't rained in a couple of days and it was 50-ish degrees out.

Aren't these sealed? Covered under warranty?

I have had this happen two times on previous cars and both times the headlights were not OEM. they had been replaced with aftermarket headlights due to an accident. I made the insurance company replace them with OEM headlights. It should be under Hyundai warranty unless they have been replaced with after market junk.

The seal is broken. The headlights will need to be replaced.

I remember reading instructions from Hyundai for their technicians to do the following when there is moisture:

1) Turn on the lights and remove the dust cap (the one you remove to replace the light bulb).

2) Let the lights warm up for 10 minutes. This should cause any internal moisture to be expelled due to the lamp heating up and the headlight being vented.

3) Close the dust cap securely and turn off lights.

This would resolve the issue if the moisture got in due to someone replacing the bulbs in humid weather. If the seal is broken somewhere else, moisture will make its way in over time.

Since the Genesis is a low production car there is more than likely very few if any aftermarket parts available. It could have been from the bulbs being changed and not installed correctly.
Since it is under warranty I would take it to the dealer and show it to them to document the problem before trying anything else
.

Yup. As an update. The dealer looked at it and said 'yup, that's moisture and you're covered, we'll order them, it's taken care of'.

Sweet.
