  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

The headlights (NOT the DRL's) flash off and back on when using the turn signals. This happens when with using both the right and left signals, switch fully engaged or not. Also, the high beams have flashed when using the turn signals. The headlights have even stayed off for a few seconds before turning back on. Of course, this is intermittent, and did not happen when I had the dealer look at it.

Has anybody else had this issue? I want to head to the dealer with a solution so this does not become more of a hassle than it already is.

Thank you!

Solution is probably to replace some parts, but a Hyundai dealer usually won't do it unless they can reproduce the problem (under instructions from HMA).

This happened to me, I took video and showed them. Also it is very easy to reproduce just move stock up and down several times and you will see it happen a lot. They replaced the part and I haven't had issues ever since.

I have the same issue and just noticed it on my 2012 I bought brand new 2 years ago. Can you tell us what part, exactly, was replaced? Under warranty? Thanks.

My car goes in on 9/25 for the repair. I showed the dealer a video, so they agree there is a problem, but of course want to see it in person. I will post the repair details when it's fixed.

Yes, this has happened to me also. I thought it was just a fluke, until i saw your post.

I have taken my Genesis in twice now for this problem. Yesterday was the second time. Of course, it doesn't show up when I take it in. I am beginning to wonder if it only happens when the car is in motion. Can't wait to see what the problem is and how they fixed it.

I just call the Hyundai Customer Care Center. 1-800-633-5151. The person I spoke to is looking into this. He did tell me that he was glad I called because this put the problem into their system. If more people call them with this problem, it could result in a recall.

Did you get your lights fixed?

Thank you so much for this information. Customer Care wanted me to return my car to the dealership to have them look at it again. I took it in Saturday. They gave me a loaner since this is a repeat problem. Of course, it did not display the problem!! They had a regional tech guy there today. The manager called me and asked some questions. I told them about your fix. Later he called me and said that they are going to do that fix. They had also contacted the big wigs and were going to do a couple of other diagnostic tests.

I had this in an '11 4.6, dealer couldn't recreate of course, but did replace stalk, which fixed the problem. I asked the service writer on the third try what their position would be when the headlights went out some night on a country road . . .

Sorry for the delay. The dealer replaced part # 93400-3m031, which is the multi-function headlight switch (control stalk). This appears to have corrected this issue.

I had the stalk replaced and it appears that the problem has been resolved. Thank you for this post. I did share it with the mechanic and they followed through with it.

Had this happen a few times recently with my 2010 and thougt I was pulling back on the stalk. Hasnt been a regular thing. Thanks for the info everyone, I will take it with me to the dealer as backup.

Common issue, I replace at least 1 a month.

Been following this thread for a little while... and noticed it last night driving at night for the first time. Played it off thinking I had just clicked the high beams on and off.

However, it happened again a minute later - my cousin noticed it the second time and asked if I saw it.

Seems like I have this issue. 2012 R Spec.

I finally was able to catch it on video for more than once. I found out that moving the stalk between each click of the turn signal without making the signal actually go off was where it would cause the flash. The other night it did it twice while driving at night, then went off for about 2 secs which scared the hell out of me. I plan on taking it in on monday

When I had this issue before getting the stalk replaced, it only happened when the headlights was set to "on". When it was on auto it would never do it. And as you said, it happens in-between clicks.

I have the same problem. Only occurs if headlights are in "on" position. Does not occur when in auto. Haven't taken car in yet, as I leave it in auto. 2010 3.8 here

Glad I found this, I was blaming my HID kit for this, which I ended up taking out and just noticed that the same thing happened with my halogen light on my 2012 Genesis V6. I will definitely mention this to my dealer, I'm thinking that this is one of the items covered before 36,000 miles as it is 'electronics'?

My case is that the low beams turn off for a second when turning on or off the turn signal, also sporadically, not every time.
