  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Heated /cooled seats

driver seat in your car should have the cooling function.

The 2009 Genesis V8 only had cooling with the Tech Package. I know that at some point, Tech Package was included as standard for all 4.6 models, but not sure if that applies to 2010 model year.

I believe the Tech package was standard as of MY 2011 in 4.6's in the U.S and MY 2010 in Canada.

Tech Package was standard with 2011 4.6 (and 2012), but not sure about 2010.

No, the cooling unit + fan is totally separate from the heater unit.
It's basically a flattened air pipe with a centrally mounted fan and a thermoelectric cooler unit at one end. It doesn't look difficult to install; I don't know if the extra wiring is in your car or not however. Odds are though you'll find 2 extra connectors near/underneath the seat... if so, the wiring is likely there. Why do I think the odds favor the wiring being there? Because the wiring for the lighted door sills of V8 cars happens to be present on the V6 cars as well - as other folks have noted when they install the lighted door sills. Wiring harnesses are very expensive items to design/test so it's common for one "all encompassing" harness design to be used for all variants of a particular car model.

Go to www.hmaservice.com and sign up for free... then you can access the factory service manuals yourself. Look for the body electrical chapter; it's pretty big. Install a "PDF Print driver" on your computer from somewhere and you can "print" the whole service manual to a PDF file on your computer.

If the wiring is present I wonder if it would be cheaper/easier to check junk yards for a whole drivers seat instead of trying to install the cooling components in a non-cooled seat.

The way some of the 4.6 owners on this forum drive their Genesis Sedans, there may a lot of them in junk yards.
