  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Are they standard on all V6 Sedans?

If not, which option package do they come with? Premium? Nav?

Thanks

They are not standard, and do not come with Prem/Nav. Not sure about Tech package, though

My father-in-law (whose brother is a Hyundai dealer) picked my new car up in Indiana and drove it down to me here in Florida. I just got the car today. He said that the outside mirrors fogged up badly on the drive down. Outside temps were in the high 40's at the time.

I was hoping that it had heated mirrors that he just didn't know how to turn on. Of course, I'm disappointed to find out that the car doesn't have them.

I just looked at the brochure. Looks like heated mirrors must be new for 2011.

My car is a 2011, and seemed to have a problem with the mirrors fogging up.

I did some searching around, and found a thread where someone stated that on the coupe, they turn on with the rear defroster:

i do believe when you engage the rear window defroster, the outside mirrors heat up as well. I'm up in Montreal and it seems to work fine. However, I must admit that upon searching in manual, could not find at all.

From the sedan manual (page 4-84):

"Outside rearview mirror defroster (if equipped) If your vehicle is equipped with the out- side rearview mirror defrosters, they will operate at the same time you turn on the rear window defroster."

So far, my sedan seems to have most of the "if equipped" items from the manual, so I'm hoping this one's there, too.

This is correct....I have a 2010 38 Prem/Nav and it functions exactly as you state and supported by the manual.

The Genesis' that are equipped with heated mirrors have a symbol located in the upper corners closest to the car.

Having read all of the other posters' comments I remain confused - I have no idea if I have heated mirrors or not. I didn't find any reference to them in the manual. Last winter I don't recall ever needing them, even when we had 4 feet of snow and extended periods of cold weather. This winter I'll pay more attention; if I need heat I'll turn on the rear window defroster and see what happens.

Here's a simple test:

In cooler weather, breathe on your mirror, and it will fog.

Then put the rear defroster on, wait one minute, and breathe on the mirror again.

Mine did not fog after a minute with the rear defroster on. It's definitely heated.

BTW: there is no symbol on my mirror indicating that its heated.

We don't get a whole lot of snow down here, but I still found heated mirrors useful in my Infiniti. There were times when the humidity was high enough to fog them. Oddly, it always occurred on the same stretch of road. Turning on the defroster cleared the fog quickly every time.

I have a base line V6 and it was bought in South Dakota. Mirrors don't say heated. I am pretty sure all levels of the Genisis come with heated mirrors as standard equiptment. They do turn on and get hot with the rear window defroster. Mine works great and I use them all the time in SD. Melts snow and ice very quickly.

YES! BOTH SIDE VIEW MIRRORS ARE HEATED! My 2009 Genesis Premium package has the heated side mirrors, even without the telltale mark on the outside. After reading this thread, I decided to test it using an INFRA-Red temperature tester.

I first took a temp reading with both mirrors cold, and it showed 52F (during our cold weather in my area). I then turned on the rear defroster and started to take temp reading directly at each mirrors. Both side view mirrors temperature started to rise, after approx 2 to 4 minutes, both mirror surface reached the maximum temperature of 89F. I turned off the rear defroster and both mirror temperatures went back to the ambient temp which was 52F.

I had this car for two years and just now discovered, they DO WORK! This is after having to manually wipe the mirrors dry on some occasion, where both side mirrors are fogged up. Thanks for the forum!

My 2009 Genesis sedan brochure (for US models) claims heated side mirrors are standard on all trim levels, V6 and V8. So whenever the rear defroster is ON the side mirrors should be defrosting too.

I just took a look at the driver side mirror on my car - it does have a defroster icon/logo in the inside upper corner next to the "AUTO DIM" label just as scottdk's picture shows. The V8 models have the "electrochromic auto-dimming" side mirrors (like the interior rear-view mirror); the brochure says the electrochromic auto-dimming function isn't available on the V6 models. I can't tell from the brochures if the V6 side mirrors would have the defroster icon/logo though they should have the defrosters. Other replies in this thread indicate the V6 mirrors don't have the icon/logo; odd that the V8 does have it.
