  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Heated steering wheel and seat user experience

When 1st pressing either the steering wheel or seat. It always defaults to the maximum (3 on the seat, 2 on the steering wheel). I find this annoying as I always adjust back it down to the minimum values. Is there a way to default start on minimum value?
Maybe sit in the back seat instead. I think there are only two settings for the heated seats there.

My wife rode in the passenger seat for almost two hours the other night with her heated seat on high and a jacket draped over her like a blanket and was very content. During the same drive I had my seat on the lowest heat setting for about 30 minutes then turned it off. We are all different and all want different levels of warmth. I'm sure Genesis set the levels for the heated seats with everyone in mind, the hottest setting hopefully warm enough for those people who are always cold and the lowest setting good for people who just want a little warmth added. Enginnners understand these products aren't for one persons preference, the engineers are designing products with settings so everyone can be comfortable. Which is why we all love the multiple zone temperature settings. I would never set AC to 65 degrees or the heat to 90, but I'm sure there are people here that have used those settings in their GV70 and why those settings need to exist.
True...to each his/her own!

All my current vehicles start off at maximum heat (or cooled) when pressed, however the GV70 is the only vehicle that requires me to change which button I press to decrease the setting. That's my only small complaint, having to press the heated button then change to the cooled button to decrease to a less heated setting. In my other vehicles you press the same button and the settings decrease and cycle through. Small complaint about first world problems.
Yup, agree. I am guessing their logic is the arrow up means "get hotter" and arrow down "get cooler", without distinguishing between heated or cooled setting, if you know what I mean. Couple of times when i wanted to turn my heated seats off, clicked too many times and rather than stopping in the middle at OFF, I went too far and turned my ventilated seats on low, then had to arrow up again. My first car with this approach, but already getting used to it.

yep...separate off/on's and with buttons not touch screen.

The GV80 has separate controls for the heat and cool for the seats. They are touch not button. Also, the display that shows the level can be touched and it will turn the heat or cool on (whatever was last selected) and also change the level with it. It always comes on high and you have to adjust it down as you like.

I like the way the GV80 works and really like the temps on both the seats and the steering wheel.

I normally just use the voice commands, they allow you to turn on/off and specify the level. And It works for me almost always. Give it a go once, you might like it as well. 😀

I usually can't stand voice commands but I might actually give it a go.

I feel like I am not aware of or not finding a complete list of voice commands for the GV70. I can voice command the phone and navigation systems but would appreciate if you can share a link or share where to find a list of voice commands for other GV70 controls?

When you press the voice command button, there is a help button that shows up, it shows all the available options. 😊

Check out the Gen6 Premium Class Navigation Owners Manual, starting page 129. There are pages and pages of possible prompts for voice command. :)

I saw pages of them when looking in my manual the other day.

I’ve driven a few different GV70s and I find a big difference between the heated/cooled seat performance between the suede and quilted leather. Suede ventilation is much stronger than the quilted leather, and the quilted leather gets much warmer than the suede with the seat heater. Just food for thought.

Perhaps. I have not tried the ventilated option on my suede seats but I can confirm that the heated option is plenty warm. I normally turn them off within 10 mins of driving. On full, they get away too hot for me, and that's wearing a pair of cotton pants, shirt and a 3/4 length insulated coat.

Me too - the highest temperature setting comes close to burning me after a few minutes. In fact, I adjusted my phone app start settings to set it on medium instead of high because it's just too hot. I can't imagine what hotter than this would feel like! You can actually adjust the temperature of the seats in the setup/climate settings. The ventilated settings work very well with the suede seats too.

Same here. Top heat setting with suede seats is too hot (I'd say the hottest I've experienced, and that includes my German cars). Since it starts at the highest setting, it just requires too many taps to set it comfortably (I know, first world problems). As for ventilation, again, for the suede, it seems to work too well. Many a passenger in my car found it unsettling (again, probably as it starts on the highest setting). I have a strange feeling someone in Korea is laughing at us.

I can say Genesis wasn't the first to do it that way. The Misses' car is a 2019 VW Jetta and the seat cookers does start on high and cycles to low. My GV70 has the full Nappa leather seats and hers is cloth, yet In both cars after a few minutes being on I feel like I'm on a cooktop about to be seared.
Strangely, she finds it normal though so maybe it's just the individual.

My caddy would automatically set the seat heat/ventilation somewhere in between high to off depending on the temperature inside the cabin. Surprised the G doesn't do this automatic adjustment. But then again, the G doesn't have wireless android auto either.

Thanks and yes I have seen these pages of navigation system commands. What I am not finding and what others indicate in this thread is that you can also use voice commands to operate vehicle controls such as seat temperature settings, open or close windows, etc. Those type of voice commands I can't seem to locate a list of and on the help screen I don't see reference to that sort of voice command either.

My daughter's 2019 Mazda 3 automatically turns on the seat heat and steering wheel heat depending on the outside temperature. In my GV70, after I start the car, I have to press confirm, turn on lane keep, set the steering heat, set the seat heat, set the transmission to sport (sometimes), and then go. The more luxury I get, the more manual work I need to do!
