  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I find my new 2015 3.8 AWD sedan has a heavy gas pedal that I find tiring to push. Anybody else find their gas pedal heavy?

Any ideas to resolve on my own?

Thank you.

I have not noticed this with mine. You should have the dealer look at it; if there is something wrong with it it could get stuck at a bad time...

Maybe some squats at the gym are in order? Serioulsy, your gas pedal is so heavy it's tiring you out? And this escaped your attention on a test drive?

Anyway, no, my gas pedal operates much like the gas pedal on every other car I have owned. If yours is causing muscle fatigue, then either something is seriously out of whack with the gas pedal, or something is seriously out of whack with your leg muscles. In either case, prompt remedial action is recommended.

It's hinged at the bottom. Not sure what car you're coming from but, if you are pressing in the lower half it can feel heavy.

I don't have a problem w/ the gas pedal while cruising, just when moving from a dead stop (autohold on or off).

I find my self pushing a little too hard to overcome the initial resistance of the pedal, so it can be challenging to start out smoothly sometimes.

The pedal seems to vary in its resistance, however.

It's probably the way you're placing your foot on the accelerator. rest your heal on the floor directly in front of the pedal and see if that helps. i've noticed that i sometimes find myself pushing on the bottom of the pedal like you do and then I get more resistance. frankly i'm not sure i like the bottom hinged/floor attached pedal in the genesis.

Next time your at your dealer, hop into another Genny on the lot and see if it acts the same. If not, show your dealer the difference.

Might works very well when it is pressed to the floor :D

Just a follow up.....

I adjusted my seat a bit because I think the problem (as suggested) is I have shorter legs/feet and I just needed to get higher on the pedal. Thanks for all the suggestions (except for Jaeger's girlie comments).

Girls generally have shapely, strong, perfectly-sized legs fully capable of operating the foot pedals of an automobile. I don't see where your particular (and peculiar) physiological issues provide you license to disparage in any way the gams of the fairer sex. For shame, sir.

P.S. If you're having trouble adjusting your rear- and side-view mirrors, I've heard sitting on a phone book can help...
