  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

First of all I would like to say hello to all and cant wait to have some good discussion with fellow Genesis Owners. I am the Proud new owner of a 2010 Genesis Coupe 3.8. I LOVE IT!!! I do have some questions though. For the time being I am happy with preformance, plus I cant afford anything else for a while. But in the future I would like to boost the preformance on this beast of a machine. I am a beginner at all of this and would love some guidance! Where do I start? Thanks for future posts and help!

Also was wondering what would and would not void my warranty.

There isn't a whole lot right now for the 3.8's since the 2.0T gets the most love and the 3.8's ECU is very different than the 2.0T's ECU. The standard mods are CAI, exhaust, ECU flash (when one becomes available), camshafts (when they become available), port-and-polished intake manifold, lighter wheels and tires and etc. None of these will void the warranty unless the dealer can prove that the mod(s) caused the failure. Read up on the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act for information regarding that.

My first mod was to install a K&N air filter and run 91 octane all the time but I really didn't feel any difference other than a slight change in intake noise. Then just this past weekend I pulled out the charcoal filter that is in the airhat where the air filter is and THAT made a difference.

On a side note, there are one or two companies working on a supercharger kit for the 3.8's. One of them is complete but around $8k however they are looking for ways (i.e. sourcing parts in the US) to lower the cost.

And there are one or two companies doing turbo kits but nothing is available yet however one of the kits is on a company car and has been dyno'd.
