  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello, Car shopping

Trust me from a 2009 owner, don't get the Genny if you're planning on driving mainly on "bad roads" unless you like relentless body movement.
Long smooth highways and mountain roads are another matter altogether, that's were it's strength lies.

I dont mind...as long as the suspension can absorb it, I have an S2000 for the track, I'm not looking for a track car, i'm looking for something where I can be fresh after a long drive.

I was looking at a forester, but I feel like I drove a civic long enough to give my back some incentive...living in MD for 3 years traveling 60 miles a day for work on road that is at best decent is taxing on the body. Gas on the forester is almost the same as the CTS and the Genesis V8 the difference is maybe 50-100 bucks difference. I cant stand driving any other Small SUV so please dont mention it (Ford escape, rav4, crv blah blah blah)

sound like the member on here are telling me to get a CTS since it is awd and softer than the genesis.

I think the point was if you have a budget of about 17k for a car that you want to keep for 3 years, you will get better value out of an accord or similar.

I have no doubt, I'm planning to keep the car for a while. I bought an 02 Acura RSX-S in 05 and still have the car till now 8 years running great, love it to death but due to the performance mod in there I know it wont pass hawaii inspection and the coilovers that I installed on the car will break my back before I reach 35.

Honda accord and camry are really nice car, I have no doubt they last a long time, but I'm at that stage in my life where I want a little bit of comfort.

I would definitely buy the Cadillac. It has 30,000 fewer miles which is significant. I live in Los Angeles and have had to wait weeks for parts here. Forty years ago people wouldn't buy foreign cars because they were afraid they couldn't get parts. For some reason Hyundai operates that way now.
You'll never get parts for the G in Hawaii. Get the Cadillac and save the $1200..

Get the Caddy for the following reasons:

  1. Softer riding car on rough roads
  2. Fewer miles
  3. Probably better gas mileage
  4. Easier parts

Ditch the Caddy. It has the 3.6L V6 which has major timing chain issues. GM still hasn't fixed the issue yet, 5 years later. Just look it up.

I had a G8 which had the same V6. Sporty motor but had timing chain issues. And they are not cheap to fix.

I saw that too but some user say it only happen to people with less than 50k if your over that then i think your alright.

I have a 2009 camry XLE v6. Should be able to get one with 50k miles around 15-17k. Its a loaded up well built car with a powerful motor. Its got 268 hp but weighs less than the genesis so it will move.

Parts are cheaper, and more widely available than the caddy or genesis. it will last a long time. Its almost the same car as the Lexus es350 but for a lot less money.

I've seen some have a problem with over 50K.

Question is, being out on an island, do you really want to take that chance?

My sugestion would be to look for a lower milage Genney.

Hey all,

I am car shopping at the moment. I like to get a used Hyundai genesis sedan, preferably a 4.6, there is one on auto trade with high mileage 98k, should I be concern? there is also a lower mileage V6 which cost slightly more.

Try Auto Trader or Cars.com. Plug in the model within 500 mile range and you should find a several options-plus low mileage. Be patient. It is worth a road trip or having the car shipped if you find the right deal.

Wow, I hadn't heard about the 3.6 timing chain issues. In that case...
