  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I just joined the community and wanted to say hi to everyone. Last month, my wife Lucy bought a GV80 Prestige 3.5t from Genesis of Ontario (California). So far, we both love the vehicle but have much to learn about all the features. We are both in our 60s, but fairly familiar with newer vehicle technology, but there is a lot to get familiar with. Hoping to learn more.

Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. I'm glad you found us. Congratulations on the brand new Genesis GV80! :) What did the GV80 replace for your wife?

Yes...welcome. I have had a GV80 a couple of times as a loaner and it is an excellent vehicle. A few suggestions:

Find some time by yourself (each of you) familiarizing yourself with the car. Start by browsing through the manual).

I would, with the garage door open or parked outside, play around with the various settings in the info system. There will be settings for blind spot warning, automatic cruise control, seat settings, etc. I like having the seat controls on the seat but the ones on the screen are sometimes easier to figure out.

Easy entry, easy exit is a great feature that is available.

Especially, make sure you are familiar with the controls on the steering wheel and which controls what.

A number of the ADAS settings give you the choice of warning or warning plus intervention. It is a matter of what you are most comfortable with.

If your car is like mine, you can set the headlights on auto which controls turning the headlights on and off depending on external light conditions. But if you want the car to switch between bright and normal as traffic approaches and departs you need to manually set that each time you start the car up (in my car by pushing the turn signal forward and back). You probably also want to set your windshield washer for auto.

If you have the 360 camera system, try parking in a fairly empty commercial parking lot (like in a strip mall) and practice backing out using the cameras. I can tell you that if you have them, they are addictive. I am addicted to the headup display and to the 360 cameras.

One of the neat things my car does, and I assume yours as well, is to warn me of fixed radar camera systems.

I have had my GV60P for a year and a half and I still find controls that I didn't know about or forgot. On this forum one of the participants wrote about settings for the automatic cruise control. I responded that I didn't think there were any except for how close you follow. He responded back that there were. I then dug into the info system and found that not only were there such settings but I had used them and set them a year and a half ago when I had acquired the car but had forgotten. I am more actuarially challenged than you (I am 79) and my memory which was never good is not good but still...it is a reflection of how many settings there are in modern luxury vehicles.
