Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. I'm glad you found us. Congratulations on your new Genesis GV80!Hi All,
My Name is George. I have a 2025 GV80 3.5T Prestige w/~6500 miles and 3 months new.
Completely different rides. I must say the Ram had way more comfortable seats. Other than the seats the GV80 Prestige is far more fun to drive. The twin turbo V6 is smooth as silk shifts seamlessly. Stomp on it and 90 mph happens in a few seconds.I do like those Rams... How are you liking the GV80 in comparison to it?
What did you like about the Ram's seats? Softer? Or maybe did they hold you in place better?Completely different rides. I must say the Ram had way more comfortable seats. Softer, hands down. I could go 8 hours before my bony ass started to go numb n the Ram. An hour in the GV80 Prestige and I start squirming. I do enjoy the automatic bolsters and massage functions. Given all the goodies and performance I've learned to suck it up.What did you like about the Ram's seats? Softer? Or maybe did they hold you in place better?
I do miss the softer cushions that most cars had years ago. I don't know what the reasoning is behind so many seats being firmer these days...Softer, hands down. Full blown 2025 GV80 Prestige is a keeper for sure.

Massaging seats have become pretty good over the past decade or so. I once had a 2000 Cadillac DeVille DTS that had massaging seats. I don't know how anyone could have actually allowed that feature into the vehicle. It did nothing but let you know there was stuff moving inside the seat... Sorry to hear the Santa Fe wasn't doing it for your buttMy chubby butt has turned into a bony older butt. 80 soon and the only sensible Genesis for me is a GV70 with the massaging seats. I’m waiting to see how my cheekness likes the ‘26 2.5 Sports Prestige trim. For now, though, my ‘25 Tucson Limited Hybrid (cashmere bronze/black) is doing a very decent job. I had to trade in my ‘24 Santa Fe Limited because the seats just weren’t up to the job.
Yes, definitely, it's such an individual thing. I hear people saying the seats are uncomfortable in the new Lincoln Navigator... I really can't imagine that being a popular opinion. Which seats do I like? These (see photo below). I miss that kind of thing. Now add a little side bolstering and, with today's technology, just stiffen the seat is/when it needs it (when cornering, for example), and I'd be a happy camper. Is this what you had in mind?
I was a BMW owner prior to becoming a Genesis owner. As such, I was an active participant on the two major BMW forums. One of the hottest topics was seating. For most vehicles, BMW offered three different seat packages depending upon the model and customer choice. Each had committed fans and haters. Nothing to do with reliability but everything to do with comfort and handling. We all have different butts and what is comfortable to one person is awful to another.
I do think the "harder" seats is probably related to the much higher horsepower and torque of modern luxury cars. If one is taking corners at 10 mph and suddenly one is doing it at 20 mph. the seats may need to be firmer and more enclosing
My only advice would if one hasn't already made a purchase try to make as extended a test drive as you can if there is only one seating package. If it doesn't work for you, try another brand. I haven't driven or sat in a Volvo for years but its seats keep getting rave reviews. If nothing else it might give you a baseline; if the Volvo seats don't work for you, you might be best heading for the classic car auctions.
