  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello people

Duaine,

As Ric said there does not appear to be a way to load/unload anything to the HDD.
You can play your music by attaching external flash or hard-drives such as USB or iPod etc. but you cannot download your music library to the car system.

I think we all perceive a hard-drive like one in a computer as a storage device we get to use. In this case however the system is self-contained and whatever it does with all that storage space it keeps to itself.

[AFTERTHOUGHT] If what you want to do is store music for car use independent of your iPod it seems to me that a thumb drive is the way to go. Easy to install, easy to remove for updates via your PC, and very low-cost. A 2-Gig flashdrive sells online for $10, and an 8-Gig USB drive is $50... Then you won't be sitting in your car downloading and synching all the time.

There was some previous discussion as to what actually goes on inside, and how much is taken up by the operating system, sound system processing and navigational info systems.

PS One thing I just discovered on my Nav system is that the map stores where you drive. You can get it to display your historical routes as little blue dots. The more times you drive on the same road, the more dots you get. (This option can be turned on or off).

Ok thanks, I guess the reason I assumed that you could download songs to the hard drive was several years ago while purchasing an aftermarket stereo for my son I happend to see a Sony with a built in hard drive that was specifically for downloading music to.

I guess I just jumped the gun and assumed..........Thanks again!!!

That sucks if you can't load music onto the HD. My friend has a new Infinity G35. It has a "music keg". She plays a CD one time and it is recorded to the HD so no need to carry CD's. I think it also stores files from her ipod.
