  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Has anyone done any Helmholtz tuning to get rid of unwanted drone? I've been researching and the science makes since but as with any experiment what works on paper may not work in real life.

I have done a bit of practical research on Helmholtz tuning.
First, Genesis employs it on the intake side. Intake noise is really loud on WOT without it.
On the exhaust end, keep in mind that all, and I mean "all" conventional crankshaft V8s suffer from a low rpm drone which is heard on light throttle cruise. OEM exhausts tune this out. Corsa engineers it out also on their pricey exhaust systems. Corsa does not have an Genesis system.
Magnaflow tries to eliminate drone through their latest Genesis system - it is still there, but users say it is liveable. Haven't tried it.
My direct experience is a modified first generation Magnaflow with a Dynomax VT muffer. This really works - just a tiny trace of drone.
