  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a 2011 Genesis Sedan 4.6 with only 19,xxx miles on it. I have recently noticed a weird noise coming from the suspension when I move the car from stationary and turn the wheel.
Should this be covered under warranty, (Im the 2nd owner).
Please advise.

Depends on what is causing the noise. Unless something is stuck under there in the steering linkage, I would thing something has gone wrong and should be covered.

One way to find out - take her to the dealer...

Yes it is under warranty unless caused from hitting something. Warranty is 5 years 60k miles on suspension.

Or unless the owner made some custom mods (not unusual for members of this forum).

Before you go to the dealer wouldn't you like to be knowledgeable? There is a possibility what they find is not covered under warranty (i.e. previous accident/damage/abuse)

What does the noise sound like? Clunk, grinding, ???
Do you feel anything in the steering wheel, on the floorboard?
Does it happen when you turn the wheel and you're not moving?

the noise is a Clunk and not grinding...
Do not feel anything in the steering wheel or on the floorboard
only happens when moving, I really hope is it covered. I have not made any mods to the car, it has had no accidents reported when I bought it, It is a CPO vehicle.

Thanks to everyone for replying to my post.

Any updates on your case? My 2010 just turned 20k miles and few weeks ago I started hearing a clunk noise coming from the front end, specially when driving slow inside the parking garage.
This morning I was changing oil myself and asked my wife to move the steering wheel left and right while I was under the car trying to pinpoint the source of the noise. I could feel it with my fingers and it was definitely coming from the steering arms. Bad steering rack? Tie rods?

Took her to the dealer today and they confimed my suspicion. The clunk noise is coming from the steering rack. They are ordering a new one.

Last week, dealer replaced the steering rack and tie-rods under warranty. The clunk noise I used to hear while turning the steering wheel back and forth is gone but, it did not fix the clucking noise I hear while driving slow.

Thinking the noise could be brakes related, last weekend I removed both calipers and greased the pins and the back of the pads. Noise still present. I'm lost.

Dealer finally root caused the annoying clunk noise. It was a defective sway bar link.

Glad they figured it out for you! But, dang, it's a year since your last post.

I noticed the date of my posts. Exactly one year apart.

When the clunk noise began last year, I could only hear it during warm days and the dealer could not reproduce it. Since then, the noise has gotten worse, you could hear it regardless of the weather so, I took it to the dealer before the factory warranty expires next month.

Just saw thus thread. My money would have been on a sway bar end link going bad. Surprised they would replace a steering rack before a sway bar end link. End link 35 bucks steering rack$$$

I now have the same problem but doubt they will replace it since I am running air suspension.
