  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey everyone- I am a newly acquired owner of an 09 3.8. First used car I’ve ever purchased (paid with cash! Thanks Dave Ramsey) so I’m used to just taking my car in to the dealership when it doesn’t work or I have questions. Clearly I am not savvy in this area.... I think the car was wrecked previously and not disclosed when I purchased it.

I see quite a but missing under the hood, just from seeing missing bolts, and from this forum, it also appears my alarm panel bumper is missing which has caused my battery to drain completely twice now. 🥴 (Also read someplace the auto wipers etc may drain the battery too? True or false!?)

my question is...once I get the alarm panel bumper installed under the hood, can I just charge my battery since it’s new and it will be fine, or do you recommend just getting another new one?

Also- these bolts that are missing in 2 different places, what are they called so I can order them? I have spent countless hours trying to research them and can not find them.

last question—— the pole that keeps my hood up has been jammed into the hood (probably from the undisclosed accident)... anyway I can get this fixed by myself?

Do you guys see anything else I need to fix?

thank you so much for your help! I can’t tell you how much I appreciate it!

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I didn't see anything in those pictures to suggest any crash damage or repair. What symptoms are causing you to suspect such?
Your car may just be old enough that you could get all that is missing or broken from a pick-n-pull junkyard for next to nothing.

Most auto stores will test your battery for free to see if it has been noticeably damaged by the discharge events.

It's an '09 that is WAY TOO clean. Paint over the top of fasteners that hold body parts together = hint of respray.

It appears that you're missing a bolt on the driver side Hood hinge as well.

I would bet money that if you pull the bumper cover off you will find that the production date molded into it as well as the radiator support is far newer than the rest of the molded parts. The headlights look too new to not have been replaced. The rubber seal flaps are missing from the tops of the headlights. as well as several other air control panels.
Check this VIN sticker on your fender1586438894403.png
against the one on the hood (if it is there)see example below. The hood has probably been replaced.

Here are some shots of my engine bay to compare what you have against what should be there(granted mine is a 2013 so there were a few differences in the engine covers, but the main cover panels in the front along the radiator support are the same) disregard the sections in purple, those are only stock in Korea(took me allot of searching to find those).
All the items circled in yellow are the ones I believe you are missing. I will list the Hyundai Part number at the end of the post.

I am not able to find a part number for the the two foam seals on either side of the cowl (most likely discontinued). Unless you can find some good ones on a newer 2012-2013 model at a pick-n-pull you may be SOL on those. If you really want to seal that spot up you could always use some 1.5" self adhesive neoprene foam (2 layers thick of something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Weather-Stripping-Insulation-Adhesive-Automotive/dp/B07H5DDWCL/ref=sr_1_7?dchild=1&keywords=1.5"+neoprene+seal&qid=1586442950&sr=8-7 )
Those help to completely seal the engine bay and force the cooling air to go down through the transmission tunnel.
But overall (from the standpoint of someone who has been working on cars for almost 20 years now and seen many types of both excellent and downright deplorable collision repair efforts) this car has been involved in some type of front end collision. Enough to warrant the hood and components from the radiator support being removed. From the lack of parts being replaced/reinstalled I would guess it was done by either the owner or someone who was very unfamiliar with Genesis vehicles and trying to get it into a saleable condition for the least amount of money possible.
However what I don't see much evidence of is painting, I think what happened here is someone got parts from a donor vehicle of the same color.
Any chance you could post a fairly close shot of the front end (license plate covered of course) with the hood closed to show the mating between the various panels and components? As well as an up close of the hood and fender surfaces so we could see if there was any fade difference? And the top of the headlights, any molded writing and/or a MOBUS holographic sticker?
