  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Help - Brake Caliper Upgrade Question

You have a dedicated powder coating place ?

You have a dedicated powder coating place ?
The company I purchased my wheels from uses their own powder coater which is across the parking lot from their office. For the brake calipers I found a reputable local shop that also has a tech who specializes in calipers. So he's skilled in breaking them down coating them and putting them back together (some shops will require you to break them down first so they can coat them, and then its on you or your mechanic to put them back together. I can give you the details of the shop I use, just DM me, but you'll also have to calculate shipping to and from. I'm confident you could find a local specialist that could do this for you to save on shipping costs. I just googled all of the local shops with my request and then narrowed down from there.

Why thank you kindly but I have three shops who do the powder coating for me. It’s only 45 minutes for the furthest one and then they break everything down for me and reassemble as needed.

I would imagine that the size of the caliper you can fit would be based on wheel size.
I just put Monster 405mm front rotor with 8 piston calipers and 380mm rear with 4 pistons. Thing stops like a freak at 120mph.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!

Can we see and possibly a link for all of this please ?

So for the rear brakes, I'll be honest in there is no difference between the low grade standard brakes and the "upgraded" ones that say "Genesis" on them. Its literally just a flat plate that's bolted onto them which makes them appear to be a little higher end. And for mine, rather than putting "Genesis" back on them I did the wings logo instead. It's a decent investment to swap them just for the same caliper with a flat metal bracket attached to it. I tried to draw a line on the pic below so you can see where the flat metal bracket goes with a pic of my old "stock" calipers.

To answer your question though I got the rears from someone of Craigslist. But you can also look on the page where I got my front calipers too, that's on the first page of this thread somewhere, BP Parts or something like that.

Let me know if this helps or if you have more questions. You can DM me too if that's easier. Happy to help.

Thanks, I have a 3.5T Prestige so it has the big brakes on the front already. I was looking at the back.

This has been a concern of mine. From what I have been able to find they do seem compatible in every way. Its an OEM part that is offered for the model, and the ones I ordered are off a 2022 model. I can't seem to find any technicians or service managers willing to divulge any additional information or help further as they view it as "extra work" and just give me the run around. But, I am optimistic, I'm not throwing away the old rotors/assemblies so if it does not work for some reason I can always pivot back.

Thank you for sharing this information and for your research.
My old Hyundai Genesis 2013 had a four pistons. Now I have 2.5t AWD Advanced, single piston brake and I like this car, but every time I brake I miss my old 2013 Hyundai Genesis, the brakes on that car was so good. Precision while braking with 4 pistons, I miss it.

Nice work. We just got a 2025 Kia EV6 and I've doing some homework on raiding the Hyundai corporate parts bin brake upgrades.

Turns out the EV6 GT has the same 380mm front rotor and Brembo Monobloc calipers as the GV80 3.5T. It is a tempting retrofit but I might settle for the 360mm front Brembos from the GV60/GV70.

I've done OEM Brembo retrofit on both our Stingers, so they now have the same Brembos as on our G70. However, because of the separate drum type parking brake, the rear Brembos swapped in relatively easily.

These newer cars have the electronic parking brake integrated into the rear disc calipers, so swapping to larger OEM rear brakes (if even available) might be more complicated. Problem with doing a front brake ONLY upgrade is the brake bias front-to-rear will be off, which means the rear brakes won't contribute max braking power in a heavy braking force application. Probably not a big deal, since front brakes contributes most of the combined braking power anyway, but it is a point of concern.

Another consideration is the 380mm system will most likely won't fit under 18" wheels, which I very much want to "upgrade" to when the factory 19's wear out. 360mm system OTOH should fit. 18's no problem.

Thank you, sir! I'm still so happy I decided to swap everything both for the performance and the look. I hear your concerns but I'm sure you'll get it sorted out. I love those Stingers too, great looking vehicle.

Absolutely nothing wrong with upgrading to big brakes for aesthetics as well as performance. Those big monoblocs sure do look great. I was one of the first to retrofit OEM Brembos on the Stinger, and then later folks learned of it and followed suit. I must say I was very surprise to see your retrofit... on a full-size SUV no less.

Like I said, the front-rear brake bias isn't really a huge issue, especially for everyday driving. Where that would come into plays is near threshold braking. We track our G70 and Stingers, which is why I mentioned it. On a GV80, or our EV6... highly doubt most drivers would ever feel any difference. If anything, you can compensate for it by installing more aggressive, higher frictional coefficient brake pads in the rear. But probably not really worth the troubles on a daily driver.
