  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hoping someone might have an answer. Tried searching, but tough to find answer using iPhone.
I am sitting in my car and cannot get the engine to turn off. When I press the start/stop button, lights turn off like normal, dis stays on, however engine stays on. Any thoughts on a solution? Otherwise I'll be leaving the car running overnight! I've tried holding button down for up to 30 seconds, nothing!

Car is a 2011 4.6.

Try putting it in gear and then back in park and press the button. Also check and make sure you have the key fob in the car.

Fob is in car, tried cycling through park. No change b

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
You might try inserting the fob in the dash holder and hitting the button: or disconnect the battery in the trunk next to the spare tire.

Quick thought is to remove the relay or fuse for the fuel pump. Look in your manual or the back of the fuse panels to find the correct one. This will do the trick.

Thanks for the advice, I had thought of the fuel relay and that would have most likely worked, didn't like the idea of discoing the battery while the car was running--not sure how many amps run through the system!

What ended up working was turning the headlights switch from auto to off. I was then able to turn the car off. (so obvious right???).

I'll keep an eye on it and report any new findings.

this is obviously an electrical problem. you might want to get it look at at the dealership

Re: Help! Car won't shut off! Resolved!

Wanted to check back in with the fix.

Recap; car would not shut off when headlights were on (whether auto, or manual), dash lights would go off, engine would remain running.

Finally was able to get the car into the shop on Tuesday. They ran a bunch of checks on grounds, multi-function switches, pin out connectors etc and were stumped.

The mechanic who worked on the car engaged Hyundai field engineering and narrowed the problem down to the front lighting system, turns out the front right side headlamp module/assy was faulty, they replaced it with Part # 92102-3M100 and everything is now back to normal.

Took 3 days to finally fix the issue, but kudos to Flemington Hyundai for figuring it out and providing me with a free loaner even though I didn't buy from them.

An electrical gremlin is horrible. i had a lincoln continental back in early 90's with a lighting surge problem, it would get brighter/dimmer as the engine rpm raised and lowered. they replaced everything. in the end it was a ground that the wire was somehow broken almost all the way through but was "clinging" to life lol.. that was frustrating and took 10+ visits to find.

Glad it worked out and we all have to remember that these automobiles are made up of 20k parts or more and anything can be faulty...

Tom,

I agree, I have always been extremely satisfied with my experiences at Flemington Hyundai. I really think they're the best dealership I've dealt with, regardless of make.

Glad your problem is solved...who knows how much fuel you would have burned through...
